Drama 'Years' by Adam Chitayat
Rob Ulitski - 20th Jan 2020
Chicago-based duo Drama find inspiration within movement and motion in Adam Chitayat's video for Years.
Built almost exclusively of slow tracking shots through colourfully art-directed studio spaces, the camera stays fixed on the respective artists as they perform and are taken through these transformative sets. Additional elements such as VFX roses flying towards the screen and choreographed hand movements centre back to the director's focus on movement, creating a dynamic and intriguing vision.
ADAM CHITAYAT:
"Filmed practically, we set out to create a series of otherworldly, constantly transitioning spaces for Drama to perform through.
"Emotions can feel like they take us on a ride, floating us forward and bringing us towards things we need to tackle in our lives. The floating and the spaces seek to represent the themes of the song — speaking to your own heart, confronting your past and opening yourself back up to vulnerability."
