Camila Cabello 'Shameless' by Henry Scholfield
Rob Ulitski - 10th Sept 2019
Henry Scholfield's other big new music video (the other being Stormzy's Sounds Of The Skeng, of course), is his first collaboration with Camila Cabello. It's for Shameless, the first single from her highly anticipated sophomore release Romance, and in a series of charged and stunning vignettes, Camila explores the inner turmoil of unrequited love.
From a confessional booth to a burning courtyard to a spotlit desert surrounded by alter egos, she takes us on an impassioned symbolic journey inspired by the intense conflicting emotion in her lyrics.
Burning red with passion, the video is cinematic and striking, with Ross Giardina's cinematography hitting all the right notes and Cabello's performance at her career best.
HENRY SCHOLFIELD:
“Camila and I talked a lot about what kind of visual could best embody the track. We felt like something with layered multiple scenarios that amplify the emotions in the lyrics would serve it so much better than anything literal.
"Though visually very different, I wanted them to feel inherently linked. Not so much by a narrative but by their metaphysical resonance; kinda combining, editing, and escalating together to create an emotional experience that is felt, in as much as it is watched.”
