From a Caribbean beach to busy London streets, Dan Henshaw shows the importance of cricket to different nations and generations, through the journey of a cricket ball. 

And he mixes in the good vibes of singer Loryn getting together with her pals from Rudimental, in the video for Stand By, the official song of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.  

DAN HENSHAW:

"This was a bit of an unusual job. As well as the label and artist brief there was also input from the Cricket World Cup and their ad agency, due to the fact thay this track is the official song of the 2019 CWC.

"The challenge was to make a music video that referenced cricket without being an explicitly cricket-themed promo. For me the most important thing was to include a subtle nod to each of the countries coming to the UK to compete and to reflect the multicultural nature of the tournament.

"One of my favourite books, Don DeLillo’s modern classic novel Underworld, uses a baseball from an historic World Series game as a device to link together literary vignettes that span contemporary America. The book isn’t actually about baseball, it is about people and the human condition. I wanted to approach this film in a similar way. Using a cricket ball as a motif to connect a collage of scenes creating a soulful, uplifting portrait of a multicultural United Kingdom coming together for a good time.
