Push Baby 'Mama's House' by Roche & Moon

Promonews - 10th Apr 2019

A riotously entertaining video for new band Push Baby's ode to the ironies of modern fame, co-directed by frontman Jake Roche and Moon, for the band's debut Mama's House.

It's a series of adrenalin-fuelled performance scenarios, delivered with panache and showcasing Roche's considerable charisma - starting with him in his Y fronts with his eyes gouged out, with a donkey, in a padded cell of his own making. And the intensity never flags from that point.

With Francis Lane's striking cinematography, the band move into a performance scenario made for ultra-violet light, which blows up into a flourescent light show. And then moves into more conceptual rooms - each showing off each of bandmember and different elements of Jake’s deep dark thoughts - and eventually one that collapses to reveal its in the middle of nowhere, next to a flaming kiosk - and then things get really weird...

This wild tour de force took four months to make, a real achievement entirely made with practical effects - no CGI here. It does have an old-school feel - but Push Baby are one for the future.
