Luke Bather, director and occasional contributor to Promonews, takes a satirical swipe (right) at modern ways of finding love in his video for, appropriately enough, Modern Love by Irish rock band Picture This.
Set in a big country manor sometime in the 18th century, the Lady of the house has her faithful manservant show her portraits of potential suitors in a manner vaguely similar to a well-known dating app. Once she's picked three contenders and invited them over, the competition for her hand begins, with crass and naughty smartphone-era behaviour translated to the Restoration Age.
This is the Director's Cut, and it completely delivers in terms of laughs, romantic comedy, and making a nice point about the way we are now.
"Picture This let me run around in the Duke of Norfolk's house (or his holiday home or something) for two days with a bunch of amazing people in amazing costumes making jokes about 18th Century dick pics and people getting shot with arrows. Honestly the most fun ever."
