Sparky In The Clouds 'Kings And Queens' by Max Sobol
David Knight - 8th Oct 2018
Max Sobol combines realism, drama and pure theatricality in his endearing video for folk trio Sparky In The Clouds.
Beginning as the band appear on stage in a near-deserted social club, Sobol essentially tells us the story of the band through three separate interlocking strands - candid footage, dramatic scenes with lipsync (as the trio head from Devon on a incident-packed road trip to France) and contemporary dance, as they explore their folky roots in a Midsummer Night's Dream-like theatrical setting with an expressive dance group.
It's an unusual combination of film styles but it works, brings us an insight into the band about to release their debut album, and the absorbing folk of Kings And Queens in a visually stylish way.
