Ebenezer '53 Sundays' by Louis De Caunes
David Knight - 6th Sept 2018
Louis De Caunes tells the story of a prophet and his disciples for Ebenezer, transplanting elements of story of Christ to a modern setting.
Classic religious and mythological symbols are reinterpreted in the urban world of 2018 - including a figure walking on water, a Last Supper, and references to Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. But this is a more gritty and down-home approach to the visual pillars of Christianity, than in recent videos for Ariana Grande and Travis Scott.
Shot in New Orleans, with Steve Annis DoPing for De Caunes, this looks ravishing as well as being more fixed in the real world.
