Sigrid 'Strangers' by Ivana Bobic
Promonews - 4th Dec 2017
Rising star Sigrid's irrepressible charisma is given full rein in Ivana Bobic's stylish video for Strangers. It showcases the Norwegian singer's amazing performance within scenarios that are not quite what they first appear.
IVANA BOBIC:
"In Strangers, Sigrid sings about how things are “not like in the movies”, about falling for something that isn’t real, something that won’t last. It inspired me to think about movie reality - how things can look perfect from one angle, but as soon as the camera moves you see the background, or the people making the film. We took this sentiment to create visual tricks with art direction and a modular set that gave Sigrid space to perform in.
"Sigrid was a dream artist to work with - an incredible collaborator, with a very strong idea of what she wants. I love that in a female artist - she’s so unique and not afraid to show her personality. Sigrid told me about her home town Bergen in Norway and how important nature is to her, so we wanted to bring this wilderness into the studio, creating a surreal landscape with rocks and the Norwegian log cabin that plays with the scale of the studio. Then we added atmosphere with fog or a sunset to ground it in reality.
"On the shoot Sigrid took over the set with her incredible energy. That choreography is all her own. I was so impressed with her moves and the attitude in her performance so we didn’t want anything to get in the way. It’s so captivating to see her performance getting more intense throughout the video, [so] by end it feels like she’s going to burst out of the screen!
"I loved every minute of working with Sigrid and making this, it was a great team and collaboration with a lot of trust from all sides.”
