Björk 'The Gate' by Andrew Thomas Huang
Björk returns with another collaboration with Andrew Thomas Huang, together with Gucci's Alessandro Michele and headdress designer James Merry.
The Gate is the first track taken from Björk's new album (produced by Arca) but the visual style is a continuation of the ethereal, performance and tech-heavy visuals that accompanied her previous one, Vulnicura. The change is is perhaps in the world around Bjork: it's turned into a much less forbidding and much brighter place, and Andrew Thomas Huang brings a CGI-enhanced vision to work with the extraordinary irridescent garment, designed by Alessandro Michele, that's worn by Bjork.
“The Gate is essentially a love song, but I say ‘love’ in a more transcendent way," Björk has told Dazed magazine. "Vulnicura was about a very personal loss, and I think this new album is about a love that’s even greater. It’s about rediscovering love—but in a spiritual way, for lack of a better word.”
