Alex Courtès' new Cassius video is all about intriguing, ingenious, and ironic visual juxtapositions: stock shots from the commercial mainstream are spliced – horizontally and vertically - with deeply contrasting, graphically connected images to create a constant flow of striking combinations.

It all starts with the Earth becoming the bottom half of a pile of tagliatelli. But much of what follows includes movement that makes the combinations even more effective.

What a research job that must have been. This was all created with stock footage, edited by Zoé Sassier, graded by Vincent Heine and post work at Division's regular partner Home Digital Pictures to their usual impeccable standards.

And of course, great to see Alex Courtès, a true master of the medium, making a music video again.
