twenty one pilots ride into the fire in this clip by Andrew Donoho, their first collaboration since Heathens, one of the most viewed videos of 2016.

Taking place on a desolate stretch of highway, the Heavydirtysoul video sees the band's frontman Tyler Joseph being driven at full speed by a hooded figure directly into the path of his bandmate, who for some reason decided the middle of the road was the best place to play the drums.

Sparks fly and flames ignite as Joseph travels in a car that's disintegrating as it hurtles down the road - an impressive feat of high speed combustability and suspense that crescendos quite explosively.

"I feel incredibly fortunate to have worked on Heavydirtysoul. I was contacted about it just over a year ago, but It was, as is the case with many videos, it was postponed. Luckily that ended up allowing the idea to evolve and change as the band grew, my style evolved and we communicated through other projects like "Heathens".

"We finally landed on a concept that we all loved that follows a central car metaphor rooted in the themes of the album "blurry face". It's not often that a director is able to organically grow an idea with an artist, layer in complex symbolism, and then have nearly total creative freedom throughout the process. Combine that with an incredible team, luck in preproduction, and a gorgeous coat of Ohio snow, and we ended up with something really special."
