Solange 'Don't Touch My Hair' and 'Cranes In The Sky' by Alan Ferguson & Solange Knowles
Cat Velez - 10th Oct 2016
Music video director Alan Ferguson and Solange - creative collaborators and married couple - have co-directed this wickedly tasteful couple of videos for Don't Touch My Hair and Cranes in the Sky, which sees Solange shining in all her defiant, poised and self-assured glory.Â
The videos hark back to another time and place, showcasing an awesome array of mid-century fashion as well as stark, abolitionist-era garb, amongst the futuristic hopefulness of modernist buildings and ostensibly upstanding, neoclassical institutions.
Thus, the subtly explored issues of American race relations evoked in Don't Touch My Hair communicate a sense of timelessness in which nothing has fundamentally changed aside from the superficial fashions of passing time. Â
