Tigerilla ft Gill Bates 'Tulips' by Tom Noakes
Luke Bather - 2nd Sept 2016
A schoolboy performs a seductive dance for his teacher in this excellent clip for Melbourne-based DJ/producer Tigerilla, directed by Tom Noakes.
After buying some perfume from the school janitor, we watch as a very serious schoolkid performs an hilariously awkward dance for his equally serious teacher in an empty classroom. The teacher reciprocates and the strange, awkward choreography becomes a call and response between them.
The classroom is lit brilliantly in the latter half of the video, once things take a far more supernatural turn. Noakes and DP James Brown have managed to make a drab high school look like a strange and stylised world unto itself. Where funny dancing becomes contagious.
