Clean Cut Kid 'We Used To Be In Love' by James Slater
David Knight - 26th July 2016
Not easy to switch between the present and past in a one-take video - and incorporate a storming band performance to boot. But James Slater has managed it here, where we join Clean Cut Kid playing We Used To Be In Love in a pub, watched by a couple who look like they are on the brink of a breakup.
As the camera moves around the room, 'doubles' of the couple start appearing, reflecting their happier times together. It's an entertaining and adroit treatment of the theme of the song.
