Zak Abel 'Everybody Needs Love' by I Owe Youth
Cat Velez - 20th Apr 2016
Directing duo I Owe Youth has teamed up with North London singer-songwriter Zak Abel to make his new promo for Everybody Needs Love - where his soulful style of pop music meets table tennis.
And boy, is Zak very good at both - as you might expect of someone who ditched the chance to be a table tennis pro for a music career. The video is a serious feat of coordination, with the multi-talented artist singing, dancing, and playing table tennis, in a demanding choreography where he doesn't miss a beat and hardly breaks a sweat.
I OWE YOUTH:
“Knowing Zak gave up a pro career in table tennis for music, we felt it was fitting to try and merge the two worlds. We wanted to translate his skill into a choreography that complemented the rhythm and feeling of the song. We liked the idea that the ball would almost dance to the music.
"We worked with Zak and our choreographer Supple Nam to create a routine that not only showed how musical table tennis can be but also allowed the audience to feel Zak’s emotion in his performance.”
