Karen Harding 'Open My Eyes' by James Partridge
English singer Karen Harding charms in this performance video for Open My Eyes, a lighthearted clip with a classic pop video look directed by James Partridge, who describes it as a "mash-up" of styles to create an upbeat, summery feel - very welcome indeed.
JAMES PARTRIDGE:
"The Open My Eyes video is a mash-up of high fashion meets tongue-in-cheek hyperactive pop art in a space that lets Karen and her performance take centre stage. We had a lot of fun with the art direction and styling, creating a fresh and bright look reminiscing long lost summer vibes.
"We had two sets on the go at opposite ends of the studio. When we were finished with one we'd whip the camera around and move onto the next whilst Ollie Hogan and his art department team furiously re-painted and re-dressed for the next scene. The art department nailed it, though wardrobe and camera got a bit nervous when we started throwing paint bombs around!
"We boldly linked the art direction and costume in each scene. I wanted to match graphic pop art sets with outfits that were powerfully feminine, all in our muted pastel colour scheme. My favourite bit of art direction was when we re-upholstered a sofa and lampshades to match the eye-crossing pattern of Karen’s jumpsuit."
