FFS 'Call Girl' by Sasha Rainbow
The hand of a woman controls FFS (Franz Ferdinand and Sparks) on her tablet in this video for Call Girl, directed by Sasha Rainbow, where the bands' digitalised instruments, style and emotions changed and controlled with a swipe.
Using a data-moshing glitch technique, FFS play self-aware avatars brought to life in what feels like a classically graphic yet uncharacteristically glitchy music video setting.
SASHA RAINBOW:
"Who is in control? In a world where we spend at least half of our lives online, how can we describe what reality is anymore? I wanted to use disruptive technology and integrate it into the story to literally pull apart the pixels that make us when we are captured on film.
"One of the best comments I heard from someone was that they thought their phone was playing up and they wanted to to smash it on the ground out of frustration. That was the best response I could hope for."
