Denai Moore 'No Light' by James Willis
Cat Velez - 27th Mar 2015
In this stunning live performance video shot all in one take, James Willis captures Denai Moore singing No Light, from her upcoming LP Elsewhere.
Fittingly, it's expertly and minimally lit, conjuring up a mournful atmosphere. At first, Denai is shrouded in darkness as she performs alone. Then, as the song gains momentum, other musicians slowly come into view with their added layers of sound.
Proving that simplicity can be very powerful – when the song is as good as this one – James Willis fully commits to the theme of darkness as no performer is ever fully visible, including Denai herself.
