Director Charlie Sarsfield reunites with Dermot Kennedy to capture the raw emotion and intimacy surrounding his new album The Weight of the Woods.Building on an ongoing creative relationship, Sarsfield has directed the live sessions for Refuge and Funeral, establishing a distinct visual language rooted in honesty and performance. The visuals share a similar setup - single-take reveals, using the camera movement as ways to build and hone in on the narrative. Refuge is shot in an empty house, musicians filling the space, and uses composition to reflect the mood of the track. Funeral adapts this concept to a church space, creating a similar vibe with different blocking and energy. Alongside the third Live From Glenmaroon video for Reprise, the videos are an excellent milestone in Sarsfield and Kennedy's collaborative relationship, and an evocative way of bringing the Irish singer-songwriter's new album to life.
