THUNDERLIPS' latest clip for New Zealand's newest alt-pop export indi is a hypnotic and eerie piece of sci-fi body horror.
The Eversons 'Emily' by THUNDERLIPS
For the past two years the directing duo from New Zealand known as THUNDERLIPS have been directing some excellent videos for fellow up-and-coming Kiwi talent, such as their zany, hip-hop inspired videos for lovable rapper Randa and their brilliant three-shot wonder Glare for Sheep, Dog & Wolf (which has also spawned a fascinating BTS video on how they achieved it.
Now they've paired with The Eversons for this hilariously theatrical video for their track Emily, which turns out to be all you ever wanted from an indie pop promo. Frontman Mark Turner lays it on thick and heavy with the pathos - begging the eponymous Emily to take him back at her place of work- an Asian restaurant. She's having none of it, and proceeds to physically abuse Turner as the Eversons' ultra-giddy guitarist merrily plays his solo in the background.
Looks like we have another major directing talent emerging from Down Under...
