THUNDERLIPS&#39; latest clip for New Zealand&#39;s newest alt-pop export indi is a hypnotic and eerie piece of sci-fi body horror.Managing to&nbsp;tell a claustrophobic fever-dream story without ever deviating from the central framing, we become engrossed by indi staring back at us, enduring medical procedures (complete with some astounding make-up effects) before cutting into a haunting night-vision, and alien ultraviolet world before finally arriving at a place filled with writhing naked bodies. The slow pacing of the video reflects the song&#39;s arrangement, making both feel more like movements than scenes or verses. It&#39;s fascinatingly sparse but it says so much.

THUNDERLIPS follow up their first collaboration with&nbsp;Two Door Cinema Club for <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/07/07/two-door-cinema-club-are-we-ready-wreck-thunderlips" target="_blank">Are We Ready (Wreck)?</a>&nbsp;by recruiting&nbsp;a slew of animators to deliver this ADHD videogame trip for Bad Decisions.TDCC are propelled&nbsp;through the Seven Circles of Hell, and through that many animation styles.&nbsp;It begins cartoonish &ndash; and inanely&nbsp;sexualised &ndash; before very quickly melting into a Tron-style cyberscape, complete with a plethora of vehicles, then into a crude CGI whack-a-mole type scenario. Eventually the animations merge nightmarishly into one another - a full-on&nbsp;visual overload.

After their excellent videos for the likes of LarzRanda and <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/09/10/sheep-dog-wolf-breathe-thunderlips" target="_blank">Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf</a>&nbsp;in New Zealand,&nbsp;Auckland-based directing duo&nbsp;Jordan Dodson&nbsp;and Sean Wallace - aka THUNDERLIPS &ndash; make an impressive first British video for the returning Two Door Cinema Club. It&nbsp;is&nbsp;a thing of grotesque, slightly&nbsp;bewildering beauty.In the the video for Are We Ready? (Wreck) video, the&nbsp;three members of&nbsp;TDCC&nbsp;are all noxiously cheesy spokesmen&nbsp;for a series of terrible ads for&nbsp;brands with names corresponding to the song&#39;s lyrics.&nbsp;Two of them have been luridly&nbsp;transformed,&nbsp;by Melissa Lackersteen&#39;s makeup job,&nbsp;into puffy-faced, surgery-enhanced&nbsp;versions of themselves. But there&#39;s a battle going on between this artificiality and reality underneath, expressed through lead singer Alex Trimble&#39;s angst and&nbsp;slowly disintegrating face.It&#39;s visually arresting and&nbsp;audacious, and after a couple of views (maybe trying to figure it out what&#39;s going on), another catchy TDCC song will be stuck in your brain.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Auckland-based directing duo THUNDERLIPS&nbsp;have been one of our favourite discoveries this year. In fact Sean Wallace and Jordan Dodson have been making very cool videos&nbsp;for a couple of years,&nbsp;for New Zealand&nbsp;artists&nbsp;such as multi-instrumentalist&nbsp;Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf, indie pop band The Eversons, and rapper and&nbsp;pop-culture afficionado LarzRanda.&nbsp;Their two previous LarzRanda&nbsp;videos,&nbsp;<a href="https://vimeo.com/67693410">Frankenstein</a> and <a href="https://vimeo.com/84429475" target="_blank">Cosby Kid</a>, played on 90s sitcom tropes and classic&nbsp;hip-hop clips&nbsp;respectively. But their latest&nbsp;for&nbsp;Lifeguard definitely takes a darker, and more cinematic turn. In this one, Randa gets to expand her acting range, and&nbsp;take on some creepier traits,&nbsp;stalking and obsessing over a pretty girl she doesn&#39;t know, and employing&nbsp;some extreme and shady means to get her attention.&nbsp;Meanwhile, THUNDERLIPS, whose prolific run of work includes <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/09/10/sheep-dog-wolf-breathe-thunderlips" target="_blank">Breathe</a>, their second video for Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf,&nbsp;have been recently signed to <a href="http://www.goodegghq.com/" target="_blank">Good Egg</a> for UK representation.

Auckland-based directing duo&nbsp;THUNDERLIPS -&nbsp;that&rsquo;s Sean Wallace and Jordan Dodson &ndash;&nbsp;first collaborated with young mulitinstrumentalist and composer&nbsp;Daniel McBride, aka&nbsp;Sheep, Dog &amp; Wolf, a few months ago on his&nbsp;video for <a href="https://vimeo.com/91349096" target="_blank">Glare</a>, a captivating piece that sees McBride trying to evade a particularly epic, fiery&nbsp;sunrise.&nbsp;Their second collaboration for&nbsp;Breathe is equally captivating. It&#39;s&nbsp;a series of portraits of individuals at the peak moment of an intense experience &ndash; usually involving considerable stress. The situations range from the outwardly mundane to thrilling, to life-changing &ndash; chain-linked together by the superb edit.&nbsp;Just brilliant.&nbsp;

For the past two years the directing duo from New Zealand&nbsp;known as THUNDERLIPS have been&nbsp;directing some excellent videos for fellow up-and-coming Kiwi talent, such as their zany, hip-hop inspired&nbsp;videos for&nbsp;lovable&nbsp;rapper&nbsp;Randa and their brilliant three-shot wonder<a href="https://vimeo.com/91349096" target="_blank">&nbsp;Glare</a>&nbsp;for Sheep, Dog&nbsp;&amp; Wolf (which has also spawned&nbsp;a fascinating&nbsp;<a href="https://vimeo.com/114837346" target="_blank">BTS video</a> on&nbsp;how they achieved it.&nbsp;Now&nbsp;they&#39;ve paired with The Eversons for this hilariously theatrical video for their track Emily, which turns out to be all you ever wanted from an indie pop promo.&nbsp;Frontman Mark Turner lays it on thick and heavy with the pathos -&nbsp;begging&nbsp;the eponymous Emily to take him back at her place of work-&nbsp;an Asian restaurant.&nbsp;She&#39;s having none of it, and proceeds to physically abuse&nbsp;Turner as the Eversons&#39; ultra-giddy guitarist merrily plays&nbsp;his&nbsp;solo in the background.Looks like we have another major directing talent emerging from Down Under...&nbsp;
