Cold Specks 'Absisto' by Ian Pons Jewell
David Knight - 25th June 2014
A soldier walks warily through a forest at the start of Ian Pons Jewell's video for Cold Speck's Absisto - and with good reason. All manner of weirdness is about to befall him.Â
From the much older soldier howling part of the song to Cold Speck herself and her female centurions with glazed grey eyes, it makes sense that Ian's inspiration was his subconscious. As he explains below, it came to him in a dream.Â
It was also shot in Toronto, the first video Pons Jewell has made out of his new rep for Canada - Revolver Films.
IAN PONS JEWELL:
"As I listened to the track, I remembered a dream I had some years back. I write as many as I can down, and went back to it to read over it again, and it fit perfectly in terms of tone to the music. I then added the extra characters, but it was essentially about these Soviet soldiers in a forest carrying around their death portraits, which would be hung upon their assassination to the nearest tree.
"It was a great shoot with the amazing Revolver Films who I'm stoked to have represent me now in Canada."
