Sammy Rawal directs voguing diva&nbsp;Honey Balenciaga, as a magical chef, creating wonders in the kitchen,&nbsp;in this branded music video for the Kelis-performed&nbsp;Square It - part of a new campaign by&nbsp;leading cheese brand Kraft Singles.In this fast-paced mash-up of voguing and cookery, Honey - star of the HBO reality show Legendary - self-multiplies to make herself as super-creative as possible, while also making impressive moves&nbsp;to the track which was created in a team up with ad agency Johannes Leonardo and maverick singer-songwriter and foodie Kelis.This is described as part of a companywide 'anti-advertising' effort by Kraft Heinz, as a way to modernise its brands, and also a way to celebrate the growth of the Kraft Singles brand during the pandemic - it registered double digit growth for the first time in five years. In preparing to make the video for Square It, Rawal pitched his idea - including&nbsp;the casting of Honey Balenciaga&nbsp;- to the creative team at Johannes Leonardo.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;“From the first briefing, I was in love with the idea and I really vibed with the JL creatives—we shared a lot of references," says Rawal.&nbsp;“My vision was to cast the legendary voguing diva herself, Honey Balenciaga, in an absurd story about a cook hard at work who transforms into a culinary Goddess capable of telekinesis and multiplying herself on command."That everyone embraced my pitch for the video to star a queer talent for a campaign totally unrelated to Pride was incredibly refreshing."

Sammy Rawal's feelgood video for Armand Van Helden &amp; Riva Starr's Step It Up&nbsp;tells the tale of a roller skater&nbsp;who multiplies into hundreds of identical clones as she skates blissfully amidst aqua blue skies.Opening with the character floating above the camera, weightlessly gliding through the air, the concept experiments with playful visual effects, resulting in a kaleidoscopic storm of chaos.&nbsp;As the ever-increasing clones of skater Olivia Brownell&nbsp;start to dance in surreal unison, DoP&nbsp;Michael Leblanc's perpetually moving camera adds to the effect.&nbsp;The track’s vocalist Sharlene Hector also makes an appearance, singing along to her soaring vocals, in a video which combines live action and VFX in a way that&nbsp;pays homage to dance&nbsp;videos of the Nineties and Noughties, whilst looking forward with a fresh perspective.&nbsp;

Now this is what we like to see. Scott Cudmore creates an intense, joyous, and eccentric video for Leslie Feist that feels like a return to the form of the singer&#39;s videos of a decade or so ago. With added Jarvis Cocker.Feist&#39;s videos for 1,2,3,4, My Moon My Man, and others directed by Patrick Daughters&nbsp;are ten years old now - from another era almost &ndash;&nbsp;but they helped introduce more contemporary dance styles into music videos. Cudmore&#39;s video for Century follows that tradition, but there&#39;s also another level of gritty seriousness, to reflect the current age.Feist is confronted by her opponent and alter-ego, in the shape of singer and actress Maria Doyle Kennedy, and each of the dancers in Feist&#39;s gang has their equivalent in Kennedy&#39;s. They square up to each other, under a freeway flyover, and then engage in a dance battle -&nbsp;choreographed by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No%C3%A9mie_Lafrance" target="_blank">Noemie Lafrance</a>.Century reflects our harsh, combative society, damaged by social media abuse - but it&#39;s not all intense grimness. The iconoclastic mischievousness is encapsulated by the sudden and incongruous&nbsp;appearance of Jarvis Cocker in the final act, intoning about more important matters, in his trademark fashion. What an experience.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Scott Cudmore teams up with Holy Fuck to tell this slight reworking of a Biblical Epic.Based on the story of David and Goliath, we follow David as he brings home his trophy, Goliath&#39;s head, much to the delight of the local villagers. Except that the local villagers, in this case, are the residents of modern day LA. The story quickly morphs into a sprawling character study on the trappings of fame, with David carrying the head with him to all manner of parties and social gatherings. And over 12 minutes we watch the rise, and fall, and rise of a familiar character in a new context.Stylistic choices such as the use of various camera formats, coupled with the strange-yet-perfect bright blue letterboxing throughout and the headache-inducing strobing over the end credits (you&#39;ve been warned) make this an unique longform&nbsp;video piece.

Toronto-based&nbsp;Odonis Odonis&nbsp;have released this dark and dystopian visual for their track Needs, directed&nbsp;by&nbsp;Scott Cudmore, which&nbsp;is&nbsp;equal parts&nbsp;gripping, thought-provoking and&nbsp;unsettling.Driven forward by destructive and&nbsp;libidinous forces&nbsp;but with no formal narrative structure, the clip is made up of striking&nbsp;glimpses into lurid&nbsp;scenarios, with plenty of creeping&nbsp;zooms into the grimacing faces of&nbsp;powerful white men. &nbsp;Scott explains, &quot;&ldquo;For me, this is a video about oppression, objectification, commodification - old, entitled white men. It&rsquo;s about them and the system of oppression and exploitation that they&rsquo;ve created to serve their, well&hellip; needs.&quot;&quot;I&rsquo;m looking at this through the lens of science fiction but I wanted to depict that power structure breaking down. Breaking down internally. A cinematic visual accompaniment to Wintersleep&#39;s Amerika is a multi-faceted vision of an all-too-close-to-home sociopolitical&nbsp;dystopia, with a weakening of the human condition&nbsp;and a biblical apocalypse colliding with one another in a disquieting and harrowing beauty.The video deviates from a normal &#39;rock&#39; video by favouring slower pacing and delivering a feeling of menace and foreboding from multiple isolated narrative perspectives.&nbsp;The payoff is a gut-punching set of gorgeous visuals that demand you sit and watch for the entire length of nearly seven minutes. Their&nbsp;intriguing video for Belle &amp; Sebastian&#39;s Party Line -&nbsp;taken from their forthcoming new album Girls In Peacetime Want To Dance &ndash; is fine indeed. It tells the story of a girls&#39; infatuation for a young man in at least two distinct styles, giving it a different interpretation each time, to reveal more of the narrative.Scott wrote this, and Michael photographed it - in two wildly contrasting formats -&nbsp;and its dreamlike quality is emphasised by what happens on the dancefloor: a sort of Northern Soul&nbsp;ballet, choreographed by&nbsp;Robert Binet.It all leads to a poignant&nbsp;moment which is very Belle &amp; Sebastian...&nbsp;&nbsp;

Timber Timbre&#39;s&nbsp;latest album Hot Dreams has already inspired some mesmerizing videos, including&nbsp;the surreal animation of <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2014/04/15/timber-timbre-beat-drum-slowly-chad-vangaalen">Beat The Drum Slowly by Chad VanGaalen</a>, the film noir homage for <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSxZy_7Ps90" target="_blank">Curtains?! by Tyler T Williams</a>.&nbsp;And now Scott Cudmore and Michael LeBlanc&nbsp;- who directed the dreamily erotic video for the album&#39;s title track a few months ago&nbsp;- have now created something&nbsp;unsettling, surreal and suitably majestic&nbsp;for Grand Canyon. Random and impenetrable, with an obvious debt to David Lynch,&nbsp;this set of&nbsp;eerie tableaux and character portraits&nbsp;reveal themselves to be both literal translations of the song&#39;s lyrics, and an exploration of human alienation.
