Lana Del Rey 'Tropico' by Anthony Mandler
Jimmy Brown - 11th Dec 2013
Lana Del Rey and director Anthony Mandler continue their successful collaboration with the release of the 27-minute modern biblical epic Tropico, set to three tracks from Lana's album Born To Die - The Paradise Edition.
The promo, a three-part tale inspired by the story of the Garden Of Eden with Del Rey as Eve and model Shaun Ross as Adam, received its big-screen premiere at the famed Hollywood Arclight Cinerama Dome on December 4th before hitting Vevo the next day.
Mandler's mini-movie opens with Adam and Eve dancing seductively to Del Rey's Body Electric in the doomed garden - surrounded by a holographic cast of characters including Jesus Christ, Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and John Wayne.
Following the bite of the apple, we're transported to modern day Los Angeles where images of seediness and debauchery unfold to Gods And Monsters where the third and final section sees the pair cleansed of their sins to the soothing sound of orchestral ballad Bel Air. It's quite something...
