Kody Nielson 'Demons' by Francis Wallis
Welcome to the world of Terra - she's from London, six years old, and one hell of a breakdancer.
Terra's the star of Francis Wallis's splendid video for Kiwi jazz-funker Kody Nielson's Demons, the amazing sole performer in an otherwise deserted London Docklands. Marvellous.
Francis Wallis: "It's funny how time can sometimes alter a perception of a moment or a memory. I say this because as I stop to think about the video we shot for Kody Nielson (a few months ago now) I realise that I'd almost forgotten about some of the challenges we faced in creating this film.
"Kody was keen to find a way to work with Terra, and what started out as a pipe dream somehow materialised, much to the credit and hard work of my producer Henry and all the strings he somehow pulled here in the UK through his production company Everything is Okay. Credit must also go to DOP Matt North who brought a powerful aesthetic to the promo with minimal resources.
"Putting this all together was the real challenge! The fact we only had seven hours to shoot a four minute video with a six-year-old lead simply trumped mere directorial concerns. Terra is a star, turn the camera on and let her do her thing and the film's almost made for you. I realise all too well how fortunate I was to direct such a bright little talent."
