Directors Jacob Bixenham and Brendan Walker keep things admirably focussed in their latest outing with Miley: a single set-up that allows the artist's charismatic performance of Used To Be Young to hold centre stage - and allow the viewer to digest the odd easter egg.None more so than the T-shirt under her dress, referencing her Disney-dominated youth. And of course, there are echoes of Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares 2 U, recalling&nbsp;her&nbsp;feisty exchange with Sinead following her&nbsp;Wrecking Ball video. So now Sinead is gone, there is something really quite poignant about this.&nbsp;

Timothy Saccenti directs a super-intense&nbsp;performance promo for Metallica.&nbsp;Following the hypnotic promo for&nbsp;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u-7rWKnVVo" target="_blank">Lux Æterna</a>&nbsp;- also directed by Saccenti -&nbsp;that was released at the end of 2022, the video for Screaming Suicide is more of an intimate portrait of the band, focusing on their performance in a simple yet striking way.&nbsp;The energy is electric, as to be expected, and the gritty black and white aesthetic gives the whole thing a grungy, minacious feel.&nbsp;

The Weeknd sings karaoke with Squid Game star&nbsp;HoYeon Jung, in Cliqua's transcendent promo for Out Of Time.&nbsp;When watching the video, viewers may be a little disconcerted at just how&nbsp;normal things seem to be for the most part. The artist gets ready, meets Jung at a bar and they sing karaoke together in a happy, playful set of vignettes. This is a develioping love story - with a distinct nod to Lost In Translation.&nbsp;Of course, things are not quite how they initially appear. The environment breaks down into a surreal, haunting otherworld. A supply of medical equipment is&nbsp;hidden behind the walls of the building, and what appears to be The Weeknd's hand - in its aged form, from previous video <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/01/24/weeknd-gasoline-matilda-finn/74575">Gasoline</a> - reaches through the void...&nbsp;It all ends with a cameo from Jim Carrey looking through a distorted medical instrument, reprising his role on the Weeknd's new album Dawn FM, as a DJ on the eponymous radio station.To be continued, no doubt...&nbsp;

When Filip Nilsson submitted his new video to Promonews, for Håkan Hellström ("by far biggest Sweden's biggest artist") and featuring a proboscis monkey, he also told an intriguing story.Hellstrom is notoriously publicity-shy, and never does interviews or PR&nbsp;- perhaps why he only a star in Scandinavia - and Nilsson wrote:&nbsp;"I've always wanted to work with Håkan and I've always wanted to work with a proboscis monkey. Both are equally difficult to grasp and capture on image."I rehearsed with Håkan and the nose monkey for almost two months. Finally I managed to capture Håkan (in his matador shrimp costume) and the proboscis monkey together on film one cold night."The shooting took place at the Ullevi Arena ( where he normally plays his shows). It was an unreal experience. Any dreams can be fulfilled, this video is proof of that."[imgtoken data:1]Well, we fell for it. But finding out the truth from watching the video is hardly a disappointment - quite the contrary. In a way, the trick is sort of obvious, but the beauty of this video for&nbsp;Alla Drömmar Är Uppfyllas ("All dreams can be fullfilled”) is that everything is based around a single, very visual idea - man and monkey drumming together on an empty stadium, in complete usnsion - so beautifully executed that will stay with you for a long time.Coldplay did something similar in <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtXby3twMmI" target="_blank">Adventures Of A Lifetime</a> - arguably their most successful video ever -&nbsp;via Andy Serkis's motion capture studio. Nilsson's effort with Hellström is a step forward from that because in some ways it keeps it simple. Hellstrom - known as the Swedish Springsteen - can make an empty stadium rock.&nbsp;That is the basis for a very strong execution of a basic but fairly ingenious premise. If you have not yet guessed what that is yet... well, just watch the video.&nbsp;

A man drives purposefully across the Texas plains on a mission, in Philip Andelman's absorbing video for Khruangbin and Leon Bridges' lovely collaboration Texan Sun.He's on a quest, and the film combines the epic nature of his determination and pioneering spirit, with the intimacy of his relationship with his wife. And the tough reality of&nbsp;life on the road in West Texas also comes with an element of pure magic.&nbsp;&nbsp;As he explains here, Andelman was inspired to create a visual that did justice to the song. He has done exactly that.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The spirituality of dance and movement, and what it means to be alive,&nbsp;is explored in&nbsp;Sebastian Strasser's ambitious video for Hot Chip's Positive.&nbsp;Shot in Kiev, the visual focuses on a group of young adults who are working hard to survive on the streets, finding pockets of respite through dancing and letting loose. In another narrative strand, a priest is seen visiting different locations and blessing unusual things - soldiers and their guns, car engines, and even dolphins.&nbsp;As the video progresses the two strands start to merge, as the action in one scenario is mirrored in the other.Beautifully shot by&nbsp;Autumn Durald Arkapaw, the raw aesthetic is very documentary-like, capturing life as it happens without obsessing about lighting or composition. The story is the main character here, and the strong performances across the board help bring it to life with passion and authenticity.

Labrinth enters an idyllic dreamscape, and encounters two characters, a boy and a young man - arguably representations of aspects of his own psyche - in Charles Todd's&nbsp;video for Something's Got To Give.This is the second part of Labrinth’s “Miracle” trilogy - following <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/06/13/labrinth-miracle-sacha-barbin/59191" target="_blank">the video by Sacha Barbin for Miracle</a>, an allegorical story of a young boy who exchanges&nbsp;his imagination for power and wealth, in a Faustian deal with a mysterious stranger. Here Labrinth is repeatedly offered different&nbsp;paths by his own man and boy characters - a metaphor for his own&nbsp;personal struggle with imagination, creativity and the highs and lows of being in the music industry - and is pushed to the limit in order to find himself.&nbsp;Todd brought the DP Marcell Rev to the project, best known for his innovative work on HBO’s Euphoria, the series Labrinth scored, starring Zendaya and executive produced by Drake.

Filip Nilsson&#39;s brilliant video for Justice&nbsp;is a celebration of the pride of Norfolk, Virginia - the&nbsp;Norfolk State University&#39;s Spartan Legion marching band. That&#39;s&nbsp;a team of 220 musicians and dancers who have clearly revolutionised the university marching band tradition.Starting with moody portraits&nbsp;of key figures in the band - before and after they don the uniform and gladitorial-style caps &ndash;Nilsson and cinematographer Steve Annis bestow&nbsp;them with a heroic stature. And that&#39;s even before their signature stomping performance blows us away.&nbsp;Firstly comes the street march, and then&nbsp;the piece de resistance: a performance by the whole band under lights on the NSU football field. And they really are playing Heavy Metal, from the Grammy-nominated album Woman Worldwide. Absolutely marvellous.&nbsp;

It&#39;s two tales as different as day and night in Colin Read&#39;s gripping video for Radiohead&#39;s Man of War.A camera sweeps through a park on a Steadicam,&nbsp;cutting abruptly&nbsp;but seamlessly between identical shots in day and night. Before long we&#39;re introduced to our lead character whose daytime movements begin decidedly more relaxed than his night time parallel. Every action has an equal or opposite reaction and the paranoid, fidgety sense of impending trouble blurs the lines between the day and night actions before they seemingly become one and the same. A simple and sinister story structured superbly in the edit.

In Jamie-James Medina&#39;s layered new video for Iggy Pop, premiered on&nbsp;<a href="http://bit.ly/20XsTKR" target="_blank">Nowness</a>,&nbsp;vintage footage of a boxing match &ndash; a world title fight held&nbsp;in Africa &ndash; shares space with Iggy&#39;s reflective performance of the Josh Homme-produced American Valhalla,&nbsp;within a square that obscures most of the person behind it - model Ruth Bell - until the very end.The fight we see is a&nbsp;contest between boxers Dick Tiger and Gene Fullmer that took place in Nigeria in 1963. But you&#39;d be&nbsp;forgiven for thinking&nbsp;about the late&nbsp;Muhammad Ali while watching it, and his own fight in Africa, and arguably&nbsp;his greatest victory, in The&nbsp;Rumble In The Jungle.&nbsp;And of course, with the sad passing of the man known as The Greatest, there are few people who could ever hope to aspire to that title, in any field. But Iggy might be one of them.&nbsp;
