Stormzy is a&nbsp;mentor in this typically ambitious video by Henry Scholfield, starring the artist’s real-life nephews.&nbsp;Scholfield has had a hell of a year. His videos are ubiquitous and his name has become shorthand for a specific brand of technical flair. You know when you’re watching one. This style has become inseparable from London, and has inspired a host of imitators.With an exhausting location count, an innovative use of digital zoom, and a loose approach to speed, Sounds of Skeng seems to share the most DNA with the star-studded video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/03/07/wiley-stefflon-don-sean-paul-ft-idris-elba-boasty-henry-scholfield/57677">Boasty</a>. Big budget grime videos are a hotbed of digital and practical effects, but the breakneck speed of this video is so impressive, even the famously feral YouTube audience have sat up to pay attention. A popular comment reads:&nbsp;“Director: Enough camera angles? Stormzy: AHHHH ISIT!!!!!”&nbsp;Quite. The video was shot by regular collaborator Kanamé Onoyama, and edited by Thomas Grove Carter at Trim.

Diana Kunst and Mau Morgo&#39;s latest collaboration sumons apparently conflicting emotions in their lovely video for the collaboration of James Blake and Rosalía.Beginning with compelling scene of two children standing alongside the smouldering wreck of a head-on car crash, it moves towards happiness through a series of vignettes of the children&#39;s lives, while Rosalía and James walk along the street and perform Barefoot In The Park, never on camera together, always walking towards each other.But then the children start to fade and disappear, blown away like sand, sometimes replaced by older versions of themselves. Meanwhile the artists take to their cars, heading towards&nbsp;their irresistable fate...In the hands of these Spanish directors, this is utterly moving. it&#39;s both romantic and sad, and maintains an aura of magic and mystery throughout.&nbsp;Absolutely perfect for the music.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Sam Pilling&#39;s superb, cinematic video for Chaka Khan&#39;s Hello Happiness harks back to the time when this legendary soul diva was first hitting the charts with funk outfit Rufus, in the early 1970s. And it all revolves around a single phone booth outside an LA motel on a single night.Pilling makes the phone booth the focal point for a piece with a rich cast of characters and multiple storylines: there&#39;s the lady of the night, leaving a &#39;tip&#39; in the payphone change slot; the hot couple using the booth as a location for sex; the philanderer with his mistress, and more. But not everything is as it seems.What is certain is that Chaka herself makes an appearnce in the phone booth, for what is a very enjoyable watch. It&#39;s beautfilly put together, with great widescreen cinematography by Pat Scola, wonderful editing of various story strands and performance by Thomas Grove Carter - and skilfully directed by Sam Pilling, making his first video since the brilliant DJ Shadow, Run The Jewels video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2016/08/25/dj-shadow-run-jewels-nobody-speak-sam-pilling/43283" target="_blank">Nobody Speak</a>.He&#39;s also added some titles to suggest the older generation are far racier than their younger counterparts. Clearly they learned their wicked ways back in the Seventies.

The recent re-release of Max Richter&#39;s acclaimed album The Blue Notebooks&nbsp;has led to the creation of this music video for it&#39;s most celebrated track&nbsp;On The Nature Of Daylight, directed by George Belfield and featuring a characteristically intense performance from A Handmaid&#39;s Tale, Top Of The Lake and Mad Men actress Elisabeth Moss.The video for a song that will be familar from its inclusion on movie soundtracks from&nbsp;Shutter Island&nbsp;to&nbsp;Arrival&nbsp;is a study in human resolve in the face of catastrophe. Moss hears some terrible news in her car, she gets out and starts walking. We follow her journey through deserted streets, city and country, and bear witness to her psychological trauma, courtesy of the skill of&nbsp;Belfield&#39;s direction and Steve Annis&#39;s cinematography. It&#39;s harrowing, but Richter&#39;s beautiful music, makes it bearable.In a statement Moss has said: &quot;When I was asked to do this project it was a dream come true. My work has been inspired by his music for so many years and not a day goes by on set where I don&rsquo;t have Max&rsquo;s music playing in my ears before a take. His music and my acting have gone hand in hand for a long time. So for me the opportunity to act to one of his most prolific pieces was such an incredible honour.&quot;Working with George and this entire team was so artistically fulfilling and an experience I will never forget.&quot; &nbsp;

Ed Sheeran gets nostalgic in the video for &#39;Castle On The Hill&#39; by George Belfield.Casting a cinematic gaze back on Sheeran&#39;s formative teenage years, the video is a sometimes-sombre,&nbsp;nostalgic look at English small town living. Allowing the restrained, social-realist &#39;nothing-happens-yet-everything-happens&#39; narrative to guide the film, we watch a young Ed and his pals just try and kill time in the countryside.Disappointing house parties, dilapidated ruins, and awkward first kisses make up most of the onscreen action. With some great compositions from DoP Steve Annis really helping to highlight the young ensemble&#39;s group struggle to find something to fill up the day.

As a young director&nbsp;George Belfield has shown great promise with his videos for the likes of Arthur Beatrice and Richard Hawley. But now he takes it to the next level with this is a beautiful&nbsp;execution of&nbsp;Kwabs&#39; soul ballad Perfect Ruin.Shot in sub-zero temperatures in and around the town of Lulea in the north of Sweden, this has&nbsp;a simple, bold concept - the London singer&nbsp;takes a walk through deserted snowbound town into&nbsp;the icy wilderness beyond.&nbsp;But it&#39;s the cinematic approach - facilitated by Steve Annis&#39;s wonderful photography - which gives the video its power. It&#39;s intimate and&nbsp;epic, and an almost perfect mix of&nbsp;pop video and pure cinema.
