Stitch Editing has announced that acclaimed&nbsp;multi-award winner editor Adam Spivey&nbsp;is joining its roster.Spivey is one of the UK's most respected editors, with a body of work&nbsp;that spans commercials, short films&nbsp;and television. With over 30 years experience in the industry, his reel reflects long-standing collaborations with leading directors including Gary Freedman (MJZ), Tim McNaughton (Arts &amp; Sciences), Si&amp;Ad (Academy Films), Simon Ratigan (Rogue), and Traktor (Stink).His work has been recognised with multiple Golds and Silvers from major industry awards including Cannes Lions, British Arrows, Creative Circle, and Kinsale Sharks. Spivey also&nbsp;founded Speade with Sam Sneade, before going on to start and run boutique edit house The Play Room for eight years. She plays a girl who at the start is fierce and rebellious&nbsp;- stealing a car at a petrol station under the nose of its owner, heading off into the wild Icelandic landscape.Then comes the explanation for her behaviour as a past relationship comes back to her on an empty&nbsp;beach, with editor Sara Faulkner expertly intercutting between her joyful past and lonely present.&nbsp;&nbsp;Beautifully shot and executed, it's a powerful visual which highlights how we deal with echoes of the past, and how sometimes the best choice can be burning it all to the ground.&nbsp;

Yarns, the annual film competition from Stitch Editing and its junior editor division Homespun, has announced the&nbsp;three Homespun editors who are cutting the films currently in production on this year's theme of DIS:INFO:&nbsp;Ruoyu Ou, Luke Anderson and Laura&nbsp;Zvaríková.&nbsp;Ruoyu Ou - Homespun's newest editor - will be cutting Ciara O’Rourke’s Doncaster-based end of the world tale&nbsp;Don’t Believe A Word I Say. Having recently announced the filmmakers selected to make films on the subject of 'Disinfo' - this year's&nbsp;brief - Yarns has now revealed the experienced professionals&nbsp;who will mentor the filmmakers during the process of making their films.The mentors are director&nbsp;Georgi Banks-Davies, writer-director Luke Brookner and writer, director and producer Katie Lambert. From perfecting scripts to navigating post-production, the mentors have each been assigned a project, to challenge, champion&nbsp;and elevate the shorts being developed for this year’s timely and provocative brief - set by Homespun, the rising talent&nbsp;division of Stitch Editing.&nbsp;Georgi Banks-Davies is a BAFTA winning director. Her TV debut was as lead director on&nbsp;I Hate Suzie&nbsp;written by Lucy Prebble, and starring Billie Piper. She was the lead director on the sci-fi adaptation&nbsp;Paper Girls&nbsp;for Amazon, and Greek God opus&nbsp;Kaos&nbsp;for Netflix. She is currently in post production on the&nbsp;The Night Manager 2&nbsp;for BBC/Amazon, of which she directed the whole series. She has also directed many festival-screened shorts, most notably&nbsp;Garfield,&nbsp;selected for the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. Georgi is also a successful commercials director - represented by Rogue Films. She joins Yarns to mentor duo Ciara O’Rourke and Jack Clarke, bringing her experience in both realism and speculative fiction to their end-of-the-world fable&nbsp;Don’t Believe A Word I Say.“Yarns is one of the most exciting film competitions out there, throwing a light on new voices and talent, and giving them the platform to shine," she says.&nbsp;"It goes without saying I'm proper chuffed to be a part of the scheme, supporting a brilliant filmmaker to achieve their vision. As a director, Luke searches for the intimacy and honesty in the small moments and often showcases a sensitivity and rawness, achieved by his obsession to capture a sense of naturalism in whatever he makes. He’ll be bringing his sharp eye for performance and comedy while mentoring Tom Tennant for his fishy rom-com&nbsp;Angling For Love.Katie Lambert is half of MrMr films and loves a good time. As a writer and director, her interests lie in exploring female trouble and referencing every Lady Gaga music video ever made. With MrMr she has produced award-winning work globally, including that time she tried to sneak onto Usher’s private jet (denied). She’ll be mentoring Naomi Pallas as she dives into a dark corner of the internet in her documentary short&nbsp;How To&nbsp;Sell A Girl."I love Homespun!" says Lambert.&nbsp;"What an exciting competition. Short film competition Yarns has revealed the unsigned filmmakers selected to bring their visions to life under the competition's bold theme this year.The&nbsp;finalists are the director/producer duo Ciara O'Rourke &amp; Jack Clarke, Tom Tennant and&nbsp;Naomi Pallas, who have been selected to make films on the subject of DISINFO.&nbsp;The not-for-profit competition organised by Homespun -&nbsp;the new talent division of Stitch Editing -&nbsp;that champions emerging UK talent with full creative and post-production support to transform their ideas into fully realised short films, received a record number of submissions for films tackling this year's theme. The three finalists were then chosen from a shortlist of ten submissions.Each finalist will receive £2,000 funding and post-production assistance from Homespun, and post partners Sine Audio Post, Absolute, Freefolk and Nineteentwenty. The competition is also backed by&nbsp;Kodak, APA&nbsp;and Sine Audio Post.Ciara O’Rourke &amp; Jack Clarke will bring their twist on the end of the world to their short&nbsp;Don’t Believe A Word I Say. O'Rourke is a director and award-winning production designer from Doncaster, known for her surreal, stylistic and heartfelt visual storytelling. A BAFTA mentee with a growing reputation, she excels in finding magic in the rubble.&nbsp;Clarke is a Salford-based producer whose work spans indie features, investigative docs and grassroots culture. His work spotlights the grit, grief and brilliance of everyday lives.Tom Tennant's comedy short&nbsp;Angling For Love&nbsp;will explore the fishier sides of modern dating. He is a&nbsp;Somerset-born up and coming filmmaker whose wit is as sharp as his eye. Often working with his brother Theo, his previous documentary&nbsp;Frontier Town won a BAFTA Cymru Award.&nbsp;Naomi Pallas's documentary How To Sell A Girl will dive into a dark new online phenomenon.&nbsp;She is a documentary producer and director from Essex whose freelance work spans BBC, Channel 4, Sky and Amazon — but she’s just as passionate about her independent explorations of technology, folklore and the natural world.
