Simon Owens directs an unconventional love story for London-based electronic duo Technology + Teamwork.&nbsp;And if you've never seen a love story between two trashbags, you're in for a treat...Owens' idea is essentially a simple one, executed to perfection:&nbsp;a pair of red plastic bin bags lipsyncing convincingly to&nbsp;what the director describes as "a horror version banger of an Eastern European Eurovision pop song."Shot in a realistic, 'warts and all' way - with the bin bags situated in all the places you would usually find them -&nbsp;the visual feels gritty yet charming, and strangely fitting to the track."On first listen I genuinely found the opening vocal shocking," says Owens."It could be a pitched-down Taylor Dayne&nbsp;singing a Hall and Oates&nbsp;tune over Belgian Techno. I had to make a video for this tune."But what? Two bin bags, one in love with another, no matter what, run over, hospitalised, and lip-syncing. Natch."Natch indeed.&nbsp;

Simon Owens's video for electronica duo Lunge features bandmember Viva expressing herself with controlled abandon within&nbsp;the vast empty space of Black Island Studios. And it is something to behold.&nbsp;This is the first of two videos by Owens for the band, who he discovered whilst listening to Marc Riley's evening&nbsp;show on 6Music. Turned out to be a match made in heaven as his video for This Idle Motion&nbsp;has a real sense of joy, and timelessness. It's a beautiful exercise&nbsp;in capturing&nbsp;a great performance."Lunge appeared all silvery, reflective and urgent through my left kneecap," says Owens, enigmatically. "I looked down, bent my knee and heard golden pop. I was next to the radio as Marc Riley played 'Off with their heads' for the 108th time. I loved it."I found myself talking with one half of the band, after a few messages back n forth we get talking about swinging, lots of swinging. That idea didn’t work out and it struck me the lead singer Viva could have two personalities in song form, dark and light (reality is lovely and lovelier), or light and shadow. So here it is Viva as light and shadow choreographed by us, Viva and me."If you watch Viva carefully when looking up to the sky she can actually see GLASS-z12 galaxy, us mere mortals could only see an old man precariously stood on a narrow piece of wood clutching a light. Anna Meredith surveys the world, as her cool&nbsp;Saab 900&nbsp;Turbo goes through an East London&nbsp;car wash, in Simon Owens's video for Inhale Exhale.&nbsp;&nbsp;Shot in Bethnal Green, Owens creates an almost Hogarthian sense of&nbsp;London night life, viewed by Meredith&nbsp;from the security of her sudsy cocoon.The car wash's revolving brushes&nbsp;is also a great visual metaphor for the metronomic track, made more powerful by Rebecca Luff's edit. Pee Wee’s Playhouse just got a bit too real. In the throes of passion, a bed finally gets its revenge on an unsuspecting couple, in this wacky Hot Chip video by Simon Owens.The couple are so absorbed in each other that they feel to notice the caress of the mattress or bedsheet until it is too late. The bed efficiently smothers and disposes of the man in the trundle while his partner looks on in horror. And the armchair is in cahoots! But there is a certain ambiguity here. Is this furniture truly malicious? Or is this the glorious moment that furniture finally frees itself from its oppressive human overlords?Owens is a regular Hot Chip collaborator. This latest anthropomorphic creepshow follows his cute but eerie visual for Oh Baby, by Hot Chip&nbsp;frontman Alexis Taylor. The video featured a spectacularly spooky pair of&nbsp;“wandering” eyes, for which I blame puppeteer Oliver Smart. Smart joins Owens for this second outing.

Simon Owens embarks on an intrepid adventure across London to meet a bunch of very excitable dogs. And the result is this remarkable, highly entertaining video.&nbsp;Taking a leaf out of Michel Gondry&#39;s book of matching innocuous actions up to disparate sounds, Owens uses the excitable tail wags of over a hundred dogs and matches them up to the cacophony of sounds from Not Waving&#39;s track 24.If you like dogs (and believe me, I do) then you&#39;ll probably think this is ace. If you&#39;re more of a cat person (for shame) then you might need a little more convincing. But Simon Owens actually deserves a medal for pulling this off without noticeably resorting to post-production trickery.&nbsp;

There's no music at all, just Tiga acting like the Cristiano Ronaldo of dance music (narcissistic, annoying, talented, ridiculous) in an in-depth TV interview with a po-faced chat show host.
Tiga wrote it, Simon directed it. It's strange, and very funny. Hats off to these guys. It's actually up there with the wonderful <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2009/04/21/tiga%e2%80%99s-shoes-by-alexandliane/">Shoes</a>.

"I'd been speaking with Tiga and Oliver, his manager of international business affairs, for some time (since back when I was with Shazam in their Westbourne Grove office, and eating at Little and Large's Deli for lunch).
"After Oliver and his business partner Ryan had hooked up with the lord of music videos John Moule, to talk music videos and how great street art is, my name came up!
"Apparently they all wanted a live séance, as John believes in the spiritual arts of the extremely talented. We all then hooked up after a window arose for a conference call and discussed my genitals. After telling them how happy I was, they decided to let me in on a secret. Tiga can write scripts, and I have this thing! You know the thing! And can make things look good, and have excellent genitalia, I got the gig.
"It was excellent. We ended up in Brick Lane throwing bagels around, pretending we loved everyone, and generally high rolling on the 149 bus. Can I also do some shout outs Shout outs to Richard Hansen he did an AMAZING job! BJ you're the best!!"

Tiga’s Ciao! by Simon Owens

Simon Owens, who has been known to test the boundaries of political correctness in the past, may push some buttons with his new video for Who Made Who's TV Friend.
He's blacked-up the band - although to be fair it's a lot more Blue Man Group than Black &amp; White Minstrel Show.


Simon has certainly managed to push a few buttons with his other recent project, directing a strictly unofficial video for LCD Soundsystem's New York I Love You, featuring a very familiar green frog puppet character.
James Murphy was party to its making - that's obvious when you see it - but it's now been removed from YouTube. But it's out there somewhere, so maybe you should Google...
