Rei Nadal directs a suitably irreverent and taboo-busting&nbsp;promo for the sensational Eurovision-winning Italian rock outfit Måneskin's new single MAMMAMIA.The acid-washed video is set in the band's cartoonishly colourful Glam Rock&nbsp;universe - and all is not well. All the other band members are sick to death of egotistical frontman&nbsp;Damiano David and his selfish, hurtful behaviour. As they sit in a car to take them to the next gig, each of them dream of ever more imaginative ways to take their revenge upon him...Nadal channels the spirit of the Italian Giallo horror tradition - from the impeccable style and art direction to the inevitable buckets of gore. Strobing lights and frantic camera movement elevate the concept, which feels like a nightmarish drug trip which you can never quite escape.But most crucially, this brilliant production is underpinned by the band's own sense of humour and self-awareness, sending up the idea of rock excess - referencing The New York Dolls and The Sex Pistols rather than Spinal Tap. And the&nbsp;great concept of a series of imagined murders is actually&nbsp;similar to one of Preston Sturges' great 40s comedies, Unfaithfully Yours.&nbsp;&nbsp;“It was a privilege to work with the band as they are incredibly creative and hardworking," says Rei Nadal.&nbsp;"I loved making this video&nbsp;and the final cut, as it doesn't really look like the music videos I am seeing at the moment."It really feels like it is its own thing and that is incredibly hard to do at a time where we are constantly bombarded with visuals.”&nbsp;

Directing trio Crowns &amp; Owls transport Octavian to a surreal wonderland in the hypnotic visual for Poison, negotiating a world between love, lust... and something much darker.&nbsp;Utilising four cameras - including the FLIR thermal camera - the visual is a tapestry of experimental setups, each shot in a stylised, hyper-exaggerated way. Turning traditional rap videos on their head, performance is still very much the focus of the video, yet Kaname Onoyama's mind-bending cinematography adds a standout unique flair and polish.&nbsp;CROWNS &amp; OWLS:“It was rad to build a world around this tune, and to have had the trust from Octavian to try something we’re not really seeing in UK rap videos. There’s some really nice themes going on in the song, but we focused on playing with the central idea of lust and imagining that as a poisonous substance."Using a custom rig we were able to use a dual camera system; one capturing reality whilst the other was simultaneously capturing a thermal version of the same shot. This allowed us to seamlessly slip between two worlds as we’re following the artists through a fever dream."The video was shot just before the UK Covid-19 lockdown, with post happening remotely during quarantine. Ben Strebel has created a strikingly metaphorical and intensely visceral&nbsp;video for The Hour; a harrowing look at disenfranchised Britain and the exploration of freedom.The film features faceless, masked figures engaging in a dramatic event, which appears ominous and threatening. But Strebel invites the viewer to explore their perceptions, as the lack of sinlge identity is shown to be liberating:&nbsp;&nbsp;no class, no gender, no race, no disability. Everyone is the same, and ultimately a supportive community.The Hour is a collective of anonymous artists who themselves wear masks when performing live on stage, allowing the group to change freely over time. The mask is about being free and equal, also captured in Strebel&rsquo;s film.&nbsp;He explains:&nbsp;&ldquo;I wanted to examine the almost utopian idea of anonymity in the face of a society crazed by nihilism (social media driving us to extreme antisocial behaviour and mental illness).&rdquo; &nbsp;&nbsp;

The young duo&nbsp;I Owe Youth&nbsp;- that&#39;s&nbsp;Dominic Dorin and Lewis Foster - created this wonderfully simple and solemn&nbsp;video for Kwabs&#39; new single Cheating On Me.Prompted by the lyrics in the song, the clip sees the artist&nbsp;confronting his own&nbsp;reflection, which&nbsp;takes on a life of its own. The reflection&nbsp;itself becomes a&nbsp;projection of his psyche,&nbsp;dipping in&nbsp;and out of sync with the real Kwabs.It&#39;s a strong performance piece, where we feel the singer reliving his guilt, until the end, where&nbsp;both figures&nbsp;fall back in sync, coming to some kind of recognition of the past.&nbsp;Caviar London have recently&nbsp;signed&nbsp;I Owe Youth, following on from their successful&nbsp;debut collaboration for Rudimental&rsquo;s<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHPEUtL9QJ0" target="_blank"> I Will For Love</a>.&nbsp;Ore Okonedo, head of music videos for Caviar in London, says:&nbsp;&ldquo;After meeting with I Owe Youth I was inspired by their desire for creativity&nbsp;and ability to adapt to different musical styles. Steve Glashier provides teenage rock band&nbsp;The Strypes with a more&nbsp;sophisticated setting for their brand of blues-rock than previously in the video&nbsp;for A Good Night&#39;s Sleep And A Cab Fare Home: a bumper-to-bumper traffic jam at night bathed in classically erotic red streetlight.&nbsp;The boys are all performing from their own cars, and their serenading is revealed to be directed at a mysterious girl in white &ndash; she&#39;s&nbsp;the cause of the massive hold-up.Glashier, who has been working this year with Black Rivers (the new project by members of Doves), Longfellow, Postcards from Jeff, Chrissie Hynde and Simply Red, shot the video on a test track in Bedford &ndash; and all within the few hours of darkness of the British midsummer.&nbsp;

The Sacred Egg&#39;s&nbsp;Ed and Alex have expanded on that idea, translating the wrongness of trolling&nbsp;bloggers into a&nbsp;physical glitch. As a result, they have&nbsp;produced an intriguing visual effect.&nbsp;Exploiting their debatable fashion sense, Lily&#39;s keyboard cowboys&nbsp;get split in half, and&nbsp;warp into increasingly bizarre rainbows. This it was achieved in a fairly&nbsp;ingenious fashion - sets of twins were composited to appear as one person split in two, with individual pixels being stretched to achieve the final result.Another strong idea by The Sacred Egg after their videos for Breach and DJ Fresh - and a deadeye hit on a unpleasant modern phenomenon. This enjoyably&nbsp;eye-popping video for Temi Dollface&#39;s Pata&nbsp;Pata&nbsp;by James Slater (otherwise known as half of directing team Good Times) was inspired by the idealized, pastel suburbia that is 1950s TV advertising.It was shot on 16mm film by DOP Carl Burke to give it an authentically grainy feel. But the retro aesthetic is dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century, by populating the period 50s interior with high energy African dancers (Temi is from Nigeria). The combination makes for nicely twisted and highly watchable offering by James.&nbsp;
