Filmawi has created a hugely impactful video for Burna Boy’s performance of the heartfelt Monsters You Made for the BET Hip-Hop Awards. Evoking the era of the Black Panthers, the&nbsp;Nigerian superstar performs to students in front of footage of peaceful mass protests through the decades, in an atmospheric old building that is now a place of learning. The&nbsp;youths&nbsp;absorb Burna's&nbsp;words,&nbsp;while he&nbsp;is supported by a passionate live band - and Chris Martin appears, performing the chorus, as part of the film projection.&nbsp;Filmawi’s scene-setting and measured approach&nbsp;compliment the song's impassioned message&nbsp;to stop police brutality everywhere - including the&nbsp;movement in Nigeria to dismantle&nbsp;the notorious SARS (Special Anti-Robbery Squad).&nbsp;The band are wearing #StopPoliceBrutality T-shirts and as the performance ends, fists are held high, as a list of names of innocent Nigerians killed by SARS appears in the final frames. This a video that lingers in the mind long after it finishes.

Meji Alabi has directed several videos for Burna Boy, including some proper blockbusters. But have any been as powerful as this?In visualising the sombre sentiments of the Stormzy-featured Real Life, Burna Boy gave Alabi licence to tell a story about the difficulties&nbsp;for Afro-Carribean people in London now. The result is a tour de force; a compelling mini-drama where the complexity of people's lives, navigating what is 'right' and 'wrong', is highlighted by the different routes taken by twin brothers, and a pointless murder.&nbsp;With a standout performances by Devontay and Dijon Graham as the brothers, Alabi&nbsp;creates a world on a West London estate populated with believable&nbsp;characters, sketched into life by his direction and Jaime Ackroyd's camera. Most painfully of all, Alabi stays firmly with the victim, as he dies alone. It is a departure for the director who has become one of the most adept at creating visually exciting pop videos, but a very confident and cinematic&nbsp;one.Alabi even pauses the drama to allow a spoken word section, written and delivered by George The Poet, to add weight to the whole piece, that already includes strong performance elements from Burna Boy and Stormzy. Even in this untypically low-key perfomance, the singer/rapper has charisma in buckets and an enviable presence. As two agents of body positivity and allies of the queer community, she and XCX make a great match.Bradley&amp;Pablo's video is an amusing, affectionate slant on a commercial style pioneered by Calvin Klein.&nbsp;The white vests, mixed-format aesthetic, iconic CK font, and celebration of young, queer couples are straight out of Mario Sorrenti’s star-studded campaign for CK One.
