Actor Damian Lewis announces his new career direction into music with She Comes, and a music video&nbsp;courtesy of colleagues from his projects in TV drama - in particular, DoP Jake Polonsky and director Nick Murphy.Filmed in the Master Shipwright's House in Deptford -&nbsp;one of the few remaining parts of Deptford’s former royal dockyard, built in the early 18th century and now fully restored - the result is a performance video where Murphy and Polonsky&nbsp; maximise the character&nbsp;of the space to reflect the emotional weight of the song.Lewis has said that She Comes "is the first song I wrote for my debut&nbsp;album, so that makes it... my first song - that I've shared with the world, at any rate. It’s about&nbsp;ghosts, and one ghost in particular." Although he does not mention her directly, its hard to imagine that he is not referring to his late wife, the actor Helen McCrory, who died of cancer in 2021.In the video he starts the song on his own, on a staircase in the house. Other people pass him on the stairs - they are the band, and soon they are together, performing&nbsp;in a large empty wood-lined room. It's a fine setting to showcase Lewis's undoubted musical talent, presented with elegance by Jake Polonsky - who shot several seasons of Lewis's hit HBO show&nbsp;Billions, having started his career in cinematography shooting&nbsp;numerous promos&nbsp;- and Nick Murphy, who directed the recent TV movie A Spy Among Friends, in which Lewis starred.For the grade, Polonsky and producer Phil Tidy called upon another master craftsman who originally made his name in music videos - Simone Grattarolla, senior colourist at Time Based Arts, sealing the shift in tone between the brightness of the band in performance, and shots of Lewis in more reflective moments in the shadows.About the video Damian Lewis adds: “We hoped to convey the feeling of an abandoned house, of the ghost of the woman that once lived there and a group of friends gathering to celebrate her.”

Maxine Peake plays a woman who retreats to her hotel room to sink into alcoholic despair, in Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard&#39;s new video for Ex:Re, the solo project of Elena Tonra, lead singer of&nbsp;Daughter.While Tonra appears on the room&#39;s TV screen, watching her as she performs her song The Dazzler, Peake - brilliant in so many TV dramas and movies, from Shameless to the David Slade-directed Black Mirror episode <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xejjA2AFO5I" target="_blank">Metalhead</a>&nbsp;&ndash; gives a characteristically powerful performance as a woman apparently driven to self-destruction.The video was shot at the Town Hall Hotel in East London - which becomes The Dazzler depicted in Tonra&#39;s lyrics. It&#39;s a reunion with the singer for the directing duo, who created a triptych of videos for Daughter&#39;s&nbsp;second album Not To Disappear.&nbsp;Forysth and Pollard were&nbsp;inspired by Alfred Hitchcock&rsquo;s iconic movie Vertigo, infusing this piece with a&nbsp;muted colour palette to reflect their character&#39;s&nbsp;spiralling inward journey.&nbsp;And then ending on a jolting moment of surrealism.

It&#39;s Take That, but not quite as you&#39;ve ever seen them before.Mike Baldwin sends Gary, Mark and Howard through a&nbsp;hyperreal mishmash of visual styles, throws them a few instruments and, bingo - he&#39;s made a rollicking video for Out Of Our Heads, with a&nbsp;lighthearted, Sixties psycheledia-lite vibe.The guys, particularly Gary, buy into this lighthearted family-friendly&nbsp;version of befuddlement. And the feeling that this could have&nbsp;popped from an old TV show, like The Monkees, is emphasised&nbsp;by their brief appearance in cartoon form. Maybe they could be the new Gorillaz...

KT Tunstall returns with her sixth album and a surprising makeover from her classic rock-folk persona of the previous five.Swathed in dark robes, and captured in moody black and white, KT has been transformed into a veritable pop diva by Alexo Wandael. And not only that, she&#39;s dancing.Arguably channeling some Kate Bush and Madonna from Frozen (the Chris Cunningham video, that is), KT is engaged in a sensual, downright sexy pas de deux with chiselled, six-packed partner Alex Thomas.It&#39;s a very stylish as well as audacious new image direction, orchestrated by Wandael, an&nbsp;architect-turned-art-and-fashion photographer, who is now turning his hand to music video direction. On this showing, a future in the field is there for the taking.

Shot in Mexico and London, the new White Lies video&nbsp;by the Mexican director David Pablos takes us to the same place - the bedroom. But what happens there is not entirely what we might expect.&nbsp;With a variety of pairings (and more) Pablos explores the human condition - sleeping, waking up, showing a variety of emotions - from tenderness to&nbsp;thoughtfulness to coldness. Ultimately, as White Lies singer Harry McVeigh joins the cast,&nbsp;the mood is melancholic and reflective rather than arousing.One for the head rather than anywhere else, and very nicely done.

Oliver Hadlee Pearch has taken a decidedly visceral approach to his music video for&nbsp;Palace&#39;s Head Above The Water.&nbsp;Dealing with the nervy&nbsp;physicality of the&nbsp;human body and all its twitches, spasms, and other instinctive bodily processes,&nbsp;the piece effectively&nbsp;creates a hypnotic series of close-up portraits, in which&nbsp;something doesn&#39;t appear to be quite right with its&nbsp;subjects.Insisting on suffocating&nbsp;imagery such as&nbsp;a human statue in a bag being sucked of its air, and a&nbsp;man laid out on a table struggling to breathe, it&#39;s&nbsp;pairing with the sleepy, somewhat melancholic&nbsp;melodies of Head Above The Water&nbsp;makes for an the existential watch, reminding us of our fleshy, corporeal&nbsp;impermanence.&nbsp;&ldquo;When you are swept up by a wave, you are caught underwater, not knowing which way is up or down, left or right. This was sort of the starting point for this video. This idea of confusion. Concussion even,&quot; Oliver told&nbsp;Noisey, where the video was premiered last week.&nbsp;&quot;Dreams played a big part in this film. How many different scenes can sit side by side harmoniously. I wanted to try and create mini-narratives which all lead the same way yet are completely removed from each other. Tied together. Across the video we want the audience to be hypnotized, drawn in yet not knowing why or how.&rdquo;&nbsp;
