Roisin Murphy has created a proper disco banger in Narcissus, and she has also directed the video for the track which channels the fabulously kitsch glamour of the original Age of Disco.Roisin's love of the Italian 'Queen of TV'&nbsp;Raffaella Carrà, led her to make a&nbsp;fairly faithful&nbsp;recreation of a '70s disco-era performance from her TV show - which has benefitted from&nbsp;added layers&nbsp;of 70s-style video FX.Roisin always keeps within the parameters of a TV-like live performance in real time. But due to a combination of her distinctive charisma,&nbsp;and a brilliant edit by Ben Unwin, this becomes something more than its inspiration. It's an altogether&nbsp;more transcendent experience.&nbsp;It's out there, it's very Roisin, and it's amazing.&nbsp;And,&nbsp;let's face it, right now we need a brilliant song and a video like this.

Having directed her own videos for a while,&nbsp;Roisín Murphy now takes the plunge&nbsp;for the first time with another artist, coming up with a subversive knockabout comedy for The Fat White Family which gets to grips with the joys of Monty Python.The video for Tastes Good With The Money is a loose homage to some classic Python moments from the original Flying Circus TV series, in particular the most aggressively violent bits, and the Pythons&#39; fondness for dressing up as old ladies.So prepare yourself&nbsp;for a remake of Noel Coward&#39;s Salad Days, as directed by Sam Peckinpah, now reimagined by Roisin Murphy and FWF. It&#39;s bloody... Plus a nice cameo by Baxter Dury thrown in for good measure.

The third video to come from Róisín&nbsp;Murphy's collaborative ventures with Maurice Fulton is another wildly experimental vision directed by the artist herself.Following the overriding theme for the previous two, Róisín takes us to the dancefloor and really messes with our heads. This time for Jacuzzi Rollercoaster, there are cutout images akimbo:&nbsp;Róisín, Maurice, and her coterie of brain-addled, sweaty dancers are endlessly multiplied in mesmerising, elegantly rendered patterns.Nice job on the VFX by the extremely patient and hardworking post team at Squire - all achieved, of course, on a challenging budget. And it has been said before here, but it's worth repeating that as well as a great musician,&nbsp;Róisín Murphy is really a very talented director and visual artist too.&nbsp;

It&#39;s the week for England goalkeeping heroics - and hopefully more to come - and after Jordan Pickford, here are couple of proper England goalkeeping legends doing their bit.Peter Shilton and David Seaman (who&#39;s the only other England keeper to come out on top in a penalty shootout) are the stars of a campaign to encourage young men - and particularly young black men, who may have the rare subtype Ro blood type - to donate their blood, and Save The Nation.Pulled together at short notice - it was commissioned the day the World Cup started and shot the day after England&#39;s opening match against Tunisia - Dom O&#39;Riordan came on board to direct a classic encounter between the young guns on a inner city football court and the grizzled old pros.The ensuing football match was filmed&nbsp;on a football pitch in&nbsp;Pimlico - a recommendation to producer Phil Tidy from Matthew Fone, who had filmed part of Megaforce&#39;s&nbsp;brilliant Nike LDN ad there.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&quot;In the morning of the shoot Dom choreographed ten moves with the actors, with standins for Peter and David,&quot;&nbsp;explains Phil Tidy.&nbsp;&quot;We shot all in a few hours and also the Give Blood centre that evening in Peckham.&nbsp;The Ex-England players turned up and were the best.&nbsp; So much fun and happy to dive around&hellip;&quot;One of O&#39;Riordan&#39;s genius moves was to get Grim Sickers to donate their track Open The Till, featuring Mike Skinner, as the soundtrack for the ad. &quot;Dom cut the film in two sleepless days and nights and Framestore squeezed the job in and made it all happen amazingly,&quot; says Tidy.And all for something that is, yes, even more important than the football... even right now.&nbsp;It&#39;s&nbsp;for the NHS Blood and Transplant, and this came out the week of the NHS&#39;s 70th birthday.And as for the 52 years of hurt... And here&#39;s the first &ndash; a burst of lo-fi, tongue-in-cheek rave nostalgia.Filmed at London&rsquo;s The Store X at 180 The Strand, where Murphy held a two-day residency, Murphy called on &ldquo;dancers, choreographers, actors, dreamers&rdquo; to the event and has achieved a sort of highly stylised ironic version of the singer&#39;s clubby past, but with plenty of authentic passion too.Just as she&#39;s a super-creative and incorrigible artist, Roisin shows she has a real talent as a director determined&nbsp;to be experimental.

British alternative rock band&nbsp;Fightstar have reformed to record their fourth&nbsp;album, Behind The Devil&#39;s Back following a five&nbsp;year hiatus.&nbsp;Shane Davey was charged with creating&nbsp;some session films -&nbsp;uncluttered performance videos led by the music&nbsp;-&nbsp;that could be released on Youtube every other day in the build up to the album&#39;s release. As is customary,&nbsp;band frontman&nbsp;Jonathan Higgs has directed Everything Everything&#39;s latest&nbsp;video, for Spring/Sun/Winter/Dread,&nbsp;in which the band traverse&nbsp;a ravaged planet, sporting only their instruments and some rather stylish flame-proximity suits.Due to the use of specialist UV and infra-red cameras, things looks positively toxic - a bleak, coarse&nbsp;quality&nbsp;that contrasts&nbsp;with the fresh, even upbeat nature of the song. Championing an&nbsp;old-school performance video vibe -&nbsp;perhaps due to the mirror-image effects - it&nbsp;conveys a triumphant feeling, like these guys&nbsp;could keep singing&nbsp;power anthems under any extreme weather condition.

Following on from her impressive directing debut with the video for&nbsp;<a href="http://www.promonews.tv/videos/2015/04/15/roisin-murphy-exploitation-roisin-murphy" target="_blank">Exploitation</a>, where she&nbsp;created and played a fading-star persona inspired by the actresses she loves, like Gina Rowlands and Catherine Deneuve,&nbsp;Róisín Murphy has now directed a startlingly good video for Evil Eyes,&nbsp;the next single from her first album in seven years, and created another character of intriguing depth.Again, Róisín plays&nbsp;a woman who clearly has a past, and is finding it difficult to deal with the everyday present. She&#39;s a mother who&#39;s unpredictable behaviour suggests a touch of madness - perhaps more than a touch &ndash;&nbsp;existing within&nbsp;a hyperreal, surrealized domestic environment. And not only does she give a riveting performance, but its directed with real visual flair.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]No doubt she&#39;s learned a thing or two along the way, making videos with the likes of Dawn Shadforth, Hammer &amp; Tongs, and others.&nbsp;And she&#39;s clearly getting great support from her production team, led by executive producer Phil Tidy. But&nbsp;on the basis of this she has the makings of a really good director in her own right.&nbsp;
