Little Simz and Dave Meyers. Yes, it's happened - and it's amazing. This is an utterly brilliant video, for Simz's Gorilla. Unquestionably one of the best of the year so far.Dave Meyers does what he has done so well for so long: bringing a book full of jawdropping visual ideas and executing them to perfection, with the considerable assistance of a great team. But at the end of the day, you just get the sense that this would not work half as well without the sheer high voltage charisma of the artist otherwise known as Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo.Little Simz is just fantastic in this. It's a&nbsp;vehicle that is worthy of&nbsp;her talent, and just shows how great she is. In fact, it takes her&nbsp;to the next level.&nbsp;It just demonstrates that in terms of British artists at the moment, she really has no peer.So presumably she's headlining the Pyramid at Glasto this weekend, right...?[imgtoken data:1][imgtoken data:2][imgtoken data:3]

Ed Sheeran is at one with the elements,&nbsp;in Mia Barne's touching&nbsp;promo for Boat.&nbsp;We see Sheeran performing in the middle of the sea, battling a tirade of incoming waves as he works to keep his footing.Before long, various objects get caught up in the water, including broken records, teddy bears and stationery.&nbsp;The cinematography is surprisingly intimate and conversational throughout - with Sheeran's eyeline always down the lens and the camera up close and personal, it feels as if he is pouring his heart out to a friend, and it makes for a beautiful visual.&nbsp;It's the perfect track for a stripped back yet perfectly executed promo, and Barnes brings it to life with an emotional yet still playful concept.&nbsp;

Dave Meyers directs a high-concept fairytale fantasy for&nbsp;Megan Thee Stallion's team-up&nbsp;Dua Lipa.Based on a concept by Megan Thee Stallion, the video follows two men as they wander into an otherworldly forest, before encountering the artists as you've never seen them before.&nbsp;Dark, sultry and enigmatic, the pair are introduced in the throws of a chaotic abode, which has gyrating legs for doors and a neverending spiral of spiky teeth lining the walls inside.&nbsp;The video only gets more absurd and visually complex from there, and the sheer scale of the concept - and the staggering amount of VFX&nbsp;work - pays off in an explosion of glossy set pieces and first class performances.&nbsp;It's jawdropping work - but that is what we have come to expect from the&nbsp;remarkable Dave Meyers and the brilliant team around him.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]

Dave Meyers directs an emotional and pertinent&nbsp;visual for Anderson Paak's Lockdown.Reflecting on racial injustice, police brutality and the global pandemic, the video is an introspective exploration of how society has reached its tipping point, and a call for systematic change.&nbsp;Featuring cameos from&nbsp;Dominic Fike,&nbsp;Andra Day, Jay Rock, Syd of the Internet and .Paak's son Soul Rasheed, amongst others,&nbsp;Lockdown is made up of several performance vignettes, stylised in a subtle way with offbeat angles and composition, but pared down from some of Meyers' more fantastical work. C Prinz directs a vibrant futuristic promo for sister double act Chloe x Halle's Forgive Me - the director and artists'&nbsp;follow-up to the post-modern <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/05/27/chloe-x-halle-do-it-c-prinz/64987" target="_blank">Do It</a>.&nbsp;Opening with the lyrics "Don't ever ask for permission, ask for forgiveness", the fiery visual depicts the sisters dragging an unconscious, bound man to the middle of a rainforest set, backdropped by a glitchy greenscreen.&nbsp;Switching between several performance setups, the focus is very much on styling and aesthetics, with live action footage being intercut with 3D scans, irridescent VFX, and lo-fi dance cutaways.&nbsp;Refreshingly bold and stylish, the high-energy promo is a riotous trip through avant-garde concepts and unforgettable performances.&nbsp;

Once again, lockdown ends up being the mother of invention in Ariel Fish's charmingly shambolic video for JAWNY.On the one hand its a ragbag of internet -flavoured sight gags. And that would be quite good in itself, but artist and director have also thrown in some poignant stuff about the problems of finding love - especially now.&nbsp;While everyone ignores JAWNY's&nbsp;calls, internet searches throw up&nbsp;a stuffed toy bunny who doubles as a 'camgirl', an animated fruit salad - and a cynical friend who warns him against looking for love. Oh, and in the corner of his shabby apartment, his pile of dirty socks starts lipsyncing.&nbsp;“We were going to shoot a video and then we had the lockdown, so we switched up to an animated video… and then that didn’t work out. Finally, Ariel sent this crazy idea through and we chatted about it for a minute and came up with this video,” JAWNY has said of the Anything You Want video. “A quarantine love story… you can find love anywhere, anytime man.”Mainly shot at JAWNY's house and a garage, during lockdown in a socially distanced fashion. "Ariel was just a sick creative partner. She had really sick ideas and was also super collaborative with me. I felt comfortable with her and I think her and her team killed it."

Mimi Cave has directed&nbsp;a trilogy of&nbsp;live performance videos for Long Beach band&nbsp;half.alive, captured in performance with a fifteen-piece orchestra at the Capitol Studios in Los Angeles - before lockdown, of course.&nbsp;[vidtoken data:0]In each piece, Cave and her DoP&nbsp;Tom Banks make excellent use of an intimate space, utilising smooth and steady camera movement by Steadicam op Chris Loh, who&nbsp;weaves between the musicians, creating an easy-going yet exciting aesthetic.[vidtoken data:1]&nbsp;Characteristically the choreographer-turned-director also punctuates the performance element with&nbsp;unfussy choreography and other artistic elements.
