And it touches on a subject that many&nbsp;people have faced, literally and metaphorically.&nbsp;In the video for Give It Up For Love, a range of characters take turns to stand upon a high diving board, and are challenged to make an all-important leap.It's a relatable moment where personal courage is required, but given a metaphorical&nbsp;element by it's staging, on a bright yellow platform against a pastel-pink studio background. London-based creative production studio DOGEATDOG has announced the launch of it's new division marking its official entry into music video production, with&nbsp;the new department&nbsp;helmed by Natalia Maus&nbsp;as Head of Music Videos.Based in London and with arms in Los Angeles, Berlin and Stockholm, DOGEATDOG has its roots in photography and film, with an eclectic, international roster of directors.&nbsp;The move into music videos is part of the company's wider expansion plans into creating original content, that also includes feature films, TV series and international service production.&nbsp;Natalia Maus has been appointed&nbsp;to lead the new division at DOGEATDOG, overseeing a roster that includes&nbsp;senior directors Stephen Agnew and&nbsp;Jack Whiteley, plus a stable of up and coming directors, such as Juliet Casella, Jade O'Belle and Tom Furse.&nbsp;The department will be repped by Carrie Sutton.&nbsp;The department will focus on creative&nbsp;projects&nbsp;across&nbsp;music,&nbsp;fashion,&nbsp;interactive art and short form film and will be repped by Belgian-born Maus, who has years of experience in UK music videos as a&nbsp;highly regarded commissioner, EP and producer.Before the official launch of the new department, Maus has already been active on projects that have been&nbsp;produced through the studio, for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/10/21/metronomy-katy-j-pearson-love-factory-ned-botwood/78879" target="_blank">Metronomy</a>, <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/02/16/steve-mason-ft-javed-bashir-no-more-james-hankins/80387" target="_blank">Steve Mason</a>, YUNGMORPHEUS and Aime Simone. Ned Botwood directs a big-hearted love letter to the West Country, by way of the American West for Metronomy frontman&nbsp;Joseph Mount's wonderful duet with Katy J Pearson for Love Factory.This song is an absolute peach, and the video highlights the special chemistry that is created by bringing fellow west country artist Pearson on board. Botwood channels the visuals from 1960s US TV variety shows, and the legendary&nbsp;performances by Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and June Carter, blending&nbsp;British and American rural iconography, superimposing Katy and Joseph into sweeping Devon landscapes.Shot with a distinctly American flavour by DP Jamie Harding, the video trades prairie grass for wheat stubble and wide highways for narrow country lanes. The landscapes were captured over a sunset-chasing road trip through the South Hams in Jamie’s van.[imgtoken data:1]Ned, Jamie and editor Kevin Corry worked to recreate a variety of old-school televisual devices. Dolly Parton playing her Grammer guitar on a plastic porch, or Loretta Lynn superimposed onto rural Kentucky, or truly weird images like three disembodied Peggy Lee heads trading lyrics in different corners of the screen.“So much country music is about *home*. And if you absorb enough US culture, you can end up with this weird nostalgia for a rural heartland you’ve never actually been to. But it does make sense. When Dolly sings about her ‘Tennessee Mountain Home’, you understand that feeling instinctively, even if you’ve only been as close as the West Country. Katy, Joe and I are all connected to Devon. And sometimes when you’re down there, on the right day and in the right light, it really does look like the American prairie.”“Metronomy and Katy are two of my big indie heroes. So I was very sweaty when the email arrived! But I had the nicest team. Shoutout to Jamie Harding, who took me and his Arriflex sunset-chasing in Devon for two days. And Kevin Corry, who killed it in the edit.”

Sam Bailey returns to music videos&nbsp;with this joyful love letter to the Golden Age of film musicals, in his new promo for Metronomy.&nbsp;The band are seen adorned in giant flower headpieces, playing their song Love Factory, while being led by a conductor, and&nbsp;as a vivacious dancer, Majella Fitzgerald,&nbsp;takes centre stage.&nbsp;Majella is the busy Bee, who picks out each Metronomy 'flower', one by one, to 'pollinate' them. And this happens in a splendidly suggestive representation of Nature - choreographed by Supple Nam.&nbsp;From there, the concept launches into full, Golden Age musical mode, as the Bee interacts with each flower, around the stately house that provides the venue of the video, viewing each member through her trippy, multi-imaged 'bee vision.'&nbsp;It's an extremely skilled display of lightly frothy entertainment, that is also clever and subtly alternative in its joie de vivre. In other words, it's&nbsp;very Metronomy.[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>The initial idea came from watching bees hopping from bud to bud on a rosemary bush.</blockquote>"From start to finish this music video was huge lumps of fun to make," says Sam Bailey. "The initial idea came from watching bees hopping from bud to bud on a rosemary bush in my garden, indiscriminately having sweet little intimate interactions before moving onto the next one."The flowers became happy little dance partners to the bee as it moved around from station to station, as if on a factory floor. It married up perfectly with Joe's lyrics and the uplifting feel of the track's hazy tone. I was thrilled that the band went for it."Knowing that they often get really involved in the performance side I thought we should challenge them to learn some sweet moves from choreographer Supple Nam, who has a great history of bringing theatricality and levity to his dances. Just look at his work on the Miike Snow promo [for Genghis Khan] by Ninian Doff."Our performers, Majella Fitzgerald and Andrew Lyle-Pinnock [the conductor] come from big tap backgrounds. So we had a lot of fun playing with moves from musicals of 50s Hollywood (White Christmas, Singin’ In The Rain, Let’s Dance...) God, it’s joyful watching dancers move around, exploring ideas, paying homage to Vera Ellen and co. Especially when they’ve got big ol’ Hollywood smiles on. The genre calls for constant smiling, but if I could dance as effortlessly as them (and without wheezing) I’d be smiling too.[imgtoken data:2]<blockquote>We had a ball trying to emulate this era of filmmaking...&nbsp;hard lighting, bright colours and really bumpy camera movements.</blockquote>"All of us behind the camera had a ball trying to emulate this era of filmmaking too. Apologies to our grip Anthony - I made him loosen up all the tracks every time he’d painstakingly smoothed everything out. I think it looks good though - if you watch some of the tracking shots in Singin’ In The Rain they feel like the camera is being driven round on an ASDA trolley.&nbsp;"The band were unexhaustible. 48 hours before shooting this they had spent a day flying in harnesses for the excellent Right On Time&nbsp;promo by Juliet Casella and Thibaut Ceasar. So they must be awarded with some sort of endurance award. Especially since they aren’t smokers and I had them vaping (nothing toxic) for the pollination shot plates.&nbsp;"I have nothing but thanks to them for trusting the idea and getting stuck in. Same goes for the rest of the team who worked very hard to get this all going six floors up in a central London building with an unapologetically small lift."
