When we fall into Laurel’s dream world where time-freezes, all the girls have weapons to protect themselves in some way."This feels like quite a rebellious image that links to the contrast in the lyrics of being a ‘good girl’ and a ‘bad one’ as women are stereotypically told to be in line and sweet. So it was fun playing with that and showing female energy in an empowering way."

Following the warmly nostalgic video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/01/21/metronomy-things-will-be-fine-juliet-casella-thibaut-caesar%C2%A0/74645">Things Will Be Fine</a>, Metronomy reunite with directors&nbsp;Juliet Casella &amp; Thibaut Caesar for the gleeful Right On Time.&nbsp;The band situate a dreamworld where they go skydiving, and then landing to enjoy a picnic and a spontaneous performance.&nbsp;Wonderfully art directed, the whimsical set design feels like a vintage kid's TV show, with bright colours and a menagerie of wacky props - which also happen to float around on their own.&nbsp;Anchored by playful performances and an overtly joyous tone, the video is an escape from the real world just momentarily, to enjoy a more innocent, laidback fantasy.And if you want to know more about how Casella &amp; Caesar and Metronomy created their skydive/picnic fantasy, check out the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sicuQeJO0kM" target="_blank">behind the scenes video</a>.

Samuel Douek directs a warm and reflective promo for Mabel's Time After Time.&nbsp;You've probably heard Mabel's cover of the Cyndi Lauper classic on the McDonald's Christmas commercial this year, which depicts the story of a girl who outgrows&nbsp;her imaginary friend, before a trip to a McDonalds restaurant&nbsp;jogs her memory.&nbsp;The visual interpretation in the official music video is quite different, opting for a real-life, heartfelt concept which ponders love and loss,&nbsp;remembering those who are no longer with us, whilst looking forward to the future.&nbsp;The genuine emotion&nbsp;and intimate setup of the vignettes makes for a profound viewing experience, whilst Mabel's performance is spot-on as always.&nbsp;

In his second video for DJ/producer prxz, following <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/09/29/prxz-child-red-milo-blake/73079" target="_blank">Child In Red</a>, Milo Blake directs&nbsp;a poetic re-interpretation of the Grim Reaper shepherding a lost soul from limbo, in his promo for Girl.&nbsp;Shot entirely in a six minute&nbsp;continuous take, this one-shot film follows this version of the Reaper as she moves through an abandoned aftermath and interacts with the Soul.The abstract interpretation of the concept creates an aura of mystery which heightens the drama of the piece - with a great use of the East London location and in particular a giant electric pylon tower that straddles the road, its frame picked out in Adam Singodia's black and white cinematography.[imgtoken data:1]The excellent central performances by Emma Aldija as the Reaper and&nbsp;Maddie Millar as the Soul are also noteworthy,&nbsp;keeping viewers engaged with hypnotic, otherworldly movement and spontaneous choreography, captured by Steadicam operator Mike Vega.&nbsp;

JLS are back! And to emphasise the significance of the comeback of this hugely popular singing group - who had their original heyday in the early Noughties - Ian Roderick Gray has the band travel through time, to indicate that&nbsp;they rate up with the great singing groups of all.&nbsp;Gray takes us on a journey through the history of pop, with JLS performing their comeback single Eternal Love as performing on TV at different points along a timeline, from the Sixties to the present day, via the Seventies and MTV-era Nineties.&nbsp;Each era is recreated with admirable attention to detail - particularly in the style and quality of the TV coverage - and this really works in order to make its bigger point about the timeless appeal of JLS - who indeed look and sound in fine fettle.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]

Walid Labri directs a fresh promo for Big Zuu's Navigate.&nbsp;Using a car-mounted camera as the main focus of the concept, we see a unique perspective of Zuu's journey, following him as he cruises through London, meeting friends, catching up with acquaintances - and even hopping out to do some ad-lib performing.&nbsp;Conceptually tight and reflective of the track's lilting beat, it's an enjoyable and memorable showcase for Navigate.&nbsp;

Rob Akin directs a&nbsp;melancholic&nbsp;portrait of stifling loneliness&nbsp;within a marriage, in his video for Jorja Smith's Home.&nbsp;The concept of 'home'&nbsp;can mean different things to different people - for some, it's a physical location, for others, it's a feeling of warmth and safety within a relationship.&nbsp;In the video, Akin explores&nbsp;emotional disconnection between a woman and her husband. On the outside, it seems they have it all - a beautiful home, a happy child and a lavish lifestyle. But beneath the surface, deep cracks are forming, and Smith bears witness to the turmoil, in her role as a Nanny within the family dynamic.&nbsp;It's a poignant emotional rollercoaster, with Akin's subtle direction emphasising the role of the unhappy wife, played by&nbsp;Kattreya Smith. Jorja Smith - who was the&nbsp;creative director on the project - also does a top-notch job with her supporting role, flexing her acting chops in an inspired yet naturalistic manner.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jasper Brown directs a heartwrenching promo for Joesef's Comedown.&nbsp;Cleverly encapsulated in a single rotating camera movement - which pulls out from a bloodied face to a scene of a road traffic accident - the visual has a surprisingly calm and endearing vibe, given its subject matter.&nbsp;Evoking the idea of an end of life flashback, Joesef narrates an unrequited love story with his final breaths, as flashing lights and chromatic&nbsp;aberrations represent the idea of him slipping away.&nbsp;Stunning work and a unique concept, perfectly fitting to the track.&nbsp;

Filmed for an episode of&nbsp;The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in late January, Samuel Taylor captures this riveting performance by Fontaines D.C., performing the title track of the Grammy-nominated A Hero's Death&nbsp;in the Auld Shillelagh pub in Stoke Newington, London.In Sam Taylor's words it's "one of the thinnest pubs in London town", which DoP Eira Wyn Jones has lit beautifully, colour-coding different parts of the room.&nbsp;Kudos to Steadicam op Jake Whitehouse too, for negotiating this tricky space - moving up and down the length of the pub through the band and Guinness-supping regulars - to capture&nbsp;the live version in one hypnotic take.Unfortunately, it's the closest to the inside of a pub that you will get this weekend. Cheers anyway.
