Directing duo&nbsp;rubberband. have ingeniously crafted the breathtaking promo for Lucky Daye's N.W.A. - the OUTSIDE version -&nbsp;blending physical and digital mediums to create something truly distinctive.&nbsp;This is the alternate version of <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xOuos3tU3AE" target="_blank">the official video directed by rubberband for the track</a> earlier this year, where the duo have created a real magazine with stills from the original video.&nbsp;Comprised of just under one hundred individually designed pages, the creative team programmed a robot to flip through individual pages,&nbsp;taking the viewer on a journey through a living, breathing work of art. &nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Each magazine spread is&nbsp;meticulously crafted, boasting eclectic aesthetics and styling, with an overarching feeling of nostalgia, harking back to the magazine culture of the duo's youth.The seamless combination of physical and digital elements - tied together with brilliant VFX work - results in a visual that is not only extremely captivating, but also truly innovative.&nbsp;By combining different creative mediums such as fashion, editorial, music, and film, rubberband.&nbsp;have proven once again that their creativity and out-of-the-box thinking is an intrinsic part of their filmmaking DNA.

Directing duo rubberband. follow up the brooding terror of their video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/06/27/steve-lacy-mercury-rubberband/77040" target="_blank">Mercury</a>&nbsp;with something more upbeat and suitably sun-drenched for their second Steve Lacy video - again with a surreal twist.Lacy performs in an empty industrial space alongside his band, as guest vocalist Fousheé is suspended against a bright blue sky. Once Lacy joins his companion against the bright backdrop, the film takes on a hazy dream-like mode&nbsp; - it is this move toward surrealism that ties in with Lacy’s established visual language.As with Mercury,&nbsp;rubberband.&nbsp;worked with award-winning cinematographer Evan Prosofsky, and shot the video on 35mm.&nbsp;“We wanted to do something dead simple and completely free," say the directors. "We said, put them on the tallest crane we can find, and don’t remove anything. Show everything. The artifice in full. That was literally our pitch. The whole pathos of the album for us visually was the idea that: Safety is an Illusion, both in life and in love. We feel like this was a dead simple, evocative way to show that.”

Directing duo rubberband. have created a mesmerising film for the return of Steve Lacy, using minimalism to draw the viewer into their distinctive take on the horror genre.As the camera does a 360-degree pan within a fenced-off area in a factory setting, Lacey comes in and out of shot to perform the Latin-flavoured Mercury. This motion control-driven device to frame the performance is the core of the video, but then rubberband. begin to disrupt our expectations.Halfway through the piece, an animal briefly appears walking outside the fence. The tone has now unexpectedly shifted, and the viewer is suddenly aware&nbsp;of a likely interaction between this creature and&nbsp;Lacy.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Tension begins to crank up - confirmed by a flash of fur in front of the camera shortly afterwards. From then on Lacy is as much off screen as on-screen, and when he appears, his clothes are increasingly shredded.Shot by award winning cinematographer Evan Profosky on 35mm film, the video takes far less than&nbsp;its brief two minute and 30 second runtime to create a sense of sinister foreboding and creeping horror. The concept works to apply the classic horror formula, that what you (mostly) cannot see is more terrifying. It also captures the increasingly hard-edged&nbsp;energy of Mercury, the first of highly anticipated new material from Lacy.

The Weeknd sings karaoke with Squid Game star&nbsp;HoYeon Jung, in Cliqua's transcendent promo for Out Of Time.&nbsp;When watching the video, viewers may be a little disconcerted at just how&nbsp;normal things seem to be for the most part. The artist gets ready, meets Jung at a bar and they sing karaoke together in a happy, playful set of vignettes. This is a develioping love story - with a distinct nod to Lost In Translation.&nbsp;Of course, things are not quite how they initially appear. The environment breaks down into a surreal, haunting otherworld. A supply of medical equipment is&nbsp;hidden behind the walls of the building, and what appears to be The Weeknd's hand - in its aged form, from previous video <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/01/24/weeknd-gasoline-matilda-finn/74575">Gasoline</a> - reaches through the void...&nbsp;It all ends with a cameo from Jim Carrey looking through a distorted medical instrument, reprising his role on the Weeknd's new album Dawn FM, as a DJ on the eponymous radio station.To be continued, no doubt...&nbsp;

Anton Tammi teams up with Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, for their chilling fourth collaboration, In Your Eyes.&nbsp;Picking up right where he left off in <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2020/03/09/weeknd-after-hours-anton-tammi/63691">After Hours</a>, we see the artist brandishing a knife just as the elevator doors close, followed by a cacophony of gutwrenching screams.&nbsp;On the run, the girl from the elevator - played by Zaina Miuccia - is helpless as The Weeknd stalks her, embodying the foreboding threat of an '80s slasher villain. It's a blood soaked trip through anachronistic Los Angeles, echoing the same hallucinatory vibes as the previous visuals from the album, with a decidedly more gruesome aesthetic.With a climax that flips the concept on its head - and leaves Abel&nbsp;without his head - this is another masterful work from Tammi, who ends the series on a weird and wonderful high. &nbsp;

Anton Tammi directs a hallucinatory short film for The Weeknd, to promote upcoming album After Hours.&nbsp;This begins as if in the aftermath of that inventive appearance on The Late Show, with The Weeknd soaking up the applause of a chatshow audience, with a fake smile plastered across his face, hauntingly artificial and unusual.&nbsp;But after the rush and highs of performing, the rest of the world feels empty and lifeless, and this&nbsp;gradual realisation&nbsp;parallels the disappointment he feels with everyday life.&nbsp;Things take a turn for the surreal inside a subway station, where he is dragged and tossed around like a ragdoll by an unknown force. Representing the darker and more unpredictable side of his personality, this climax builds to a frenetic and mesmerising finale, full of Gaspar Noé-style edits and acid trip aesthetics.&nbsp;DoP&nbsp;Oliver Millar crafts the light in a way that plunges The Weeknd into shadow for the majority of the visual, mirroring the darker aspects of the concept and the artist's mindset. The smooth tracking shots at the beginning are counterpointed with intense whip-pans and frantic camera movement later on in the video, which helps match the pace of the concept alongside the cacophony of creepy sound effects.&nbsp;* NOTE:&nbsp;this video has an Epilepsy Warning *&nbsp;

Halsey gets sucked into a magical fairground wonderland in Anton Tammi's video for Graveyard.&nbsp;Opening in a bedroom, Halsey is drawing on a pad, the red lines left by her marker pen glistening as she continues her work. Suddenly, her drawing of a girl comes to life, and the human version appears right by her side.&nbsp;Together, they are transported to an Alice in Wonderland-style world, under the glistening lights of a midnight carnival. Totally free, the pair playfully dance and explore without abandon, two characters in a utopic fantasy world. But all good things must come to an end, and as Halsey enters a tunnel aquarium, the other girl dissipates into red glittery stars, disappearing for good.&nbsp;Beautifully shot with a simple yet fantastic concept, Halsey jumps head first into her role, embodying a curious young woman with the power to dream. Her performance is nicely matched with co-star Sydney Sweeney - recently seen in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.&nbsp;&nbsp;

We've been here before, most memorably with Beastie Boys' Intergalactic. But Eoin Glaister puts a whole new spin on a classic Japanese monster&nbsp;movie trope for Joji and Jackson Wang.So&nbsp;Giant Lobster (or Crayfish?) - played by Joji -&nbsp;is causing terror by smashing through&nbsp;the city. It&nbsp;must be saved by Jackson,&nbsp;stoically operating his Giant Robot. Battle ensues amid the cardboard skyscrapers, to the unseemly delight of Jackson's girlfriend.But just when we think that Giant Lobster is vanquished, having been summarily poleaxed by Robot, there's a twist in the tale. It's very sweet - a kind of 'snowflake' revisionism that will enrage&nbsp;neo-conservative lovers of Godzilla films. So that makes it great.What's more, there's also room for an enjoyable epilogue of Joji and Jackson having great fun, mock-fighting on set - until Joji's magnificent lobster/crayfish outfit starts falling apart...

The modern chains, of aspiring for success, power and decadence that create a false sense of freedom and autonomy.&nbsp;The video has a decisive sci-fi feel to it, the three year project utilising impressive special effects that give the expansive and empty desert an other-worldly feel. Having collaborated on other projects together in the past, Emmanuel Adjei and Sevdaliza have created a highly sophisticated, complex and beautifully executed piece. The Regrettes and Claire Marie Vogel team up to depict the women of history who have had enough of your shit.From the modern-day White House, all the way back to colonial America and the era of witch trials, women have been held back for no good reason and 16-year-old Lydia Night, who fronts LA punk band The Regrettes is completely sick of it.&quot;The video represents resistance,&quot; says Night.&nbsp;&quot;Given the fact that people in those time periods couldn&rsquo;t stand up for themselves, I wanted to make sure that I&rsquo;m always standing up for things that I believe in and for myself.&rdquo;&nbsp;Her youthful defiance is perfect in this clip, seeing her play the women of history and brush off the patriarchal bullshit that stopped them flourishing. It&#39;s as playful as it is angry - the kind of video that&#39;d high five you and then spit in your eye.
