After the audacious <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2023/07/05/bakar-alive-rubberband/82265" target="_blank">Alive!</a> - shot in Piccadilly Circus&nbsp;- rubberband. reunite with Bakar to direct another&nbsp;marvellous promo for the British singer-songwriter, bringing him to his audience&nbsp;in quite a different way.&nbsp;It begins in a stylised room interior, with Bakar at the keyboard, joined by two other musicians.&nbsp;It's filmed on a single locked-off camera in the corner of the room, and only when the view from the window&nbsp;starts to move that we realise that this room is quite literally being driven around as they perform, around the bustling streets of London.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Growing in energy as the performance progresses, the video ends with a group of fans crowding the room set, trying to get a glimpse of the artist.&nbsp;It's an inspired concept that takes a simple idea - inspired by Swedish comedy auteur Roy Andersson - and&nbsp;executes it brilliantly.&nbsp;"I’m Done was supposed to be a live performance video," reveal the directing duo. "But we wanted to drive a room around London as an homage to Roy Andersson’s You, The Living. So that’s what we did.”

Sam Smith reunites with Luke Monaghan in a triumphant comeback for&nbsp;Love Me More.The song is all about the singer being more comfortable in their self, and Monaghan - who has directed more&nbsp;Sam Smith videos than anyone else - allows that feeling to seep through the course of the film in both a direct and evocative fashion.After a prelude listening to a&nbsp;phone machine voice message from an old friend who craves to meet up with them, Sam heads out into the day with a spring in their step - in a street scene reminiscent of one of their early videos.The introduction of a supporting cast is done through a break from the course of the narrative - conceptual set-ups and portrait shots of Sam's 'gang' from the LGBTQ+ community&nbsp;- before they all come together on the dancefloor.Monaghan keeps things interesting and affectionate throughout, never deviating from a positive and joyous mood. That's anchored&nbsp;by Sam's radiant performance. This dovetails really nicely with a song which has a tinge of gospel revivalism about it.Sam Smith is definitely back - and so is Luke Monaghan.&nbsp;

Jorja Smith plays a cunning car mechanic, involved in a money-making wheeze with her co-star Shaybo,&nbsp;in the gritty and atmospheric video for Bussdown&nbsp;directed Fenn O'Meally - and filmed in Jorja's hometown in Walsall.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;&nbsp;If the sight of Jorja as a West Midlands car mechanic seems unlikely at first, O'Meally makes it work by drawing on various influences and sharp cinematic techniques from Hollywood heist movies, and also closer to home. Initially, it's Jorja who uses her charm to seriously overcharge customers at the auto repair garage. Shaybo observes on the CCTV, before they indulge in their taste for jewellry, as Jorja transforms out of her oily overalls into something more glamorous.[imgtoken data:2]For&nbsp;a song which has an unhurried soulful tempo, O’Meally's command of the narrative, attention to detail&nbsp;and integration of the performances is exceptional. This is a very confident and stylish video by the director - also from the West Midlands - and&nbsp;a great platform for the performers who display their natural personalities and chemistry while inhabiting their fictional roles. The cinematography by&nbsp;Patrick Golan is perfect for providing the fusion of English kitchen sink grittiness and slick music video glamour.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:3]“Honestly, it's been a blessing working with an artist who is so driven, so hard working and so collaborative," says O'Meally. "I knew working with Jorja would be special - two Midlands girls, both who hustle their heart out, from very humble backgrounds, teaming up and showing up is always going to be special. Danish director Nina Holmgren has created a gorgeous showcase for the rising singer Justine Skye, that's also a knowing commentary on our obsessive relationship with screen technology - and features some notable members of Skye's celebrity fanbase.In the video for Intruded - which is bookended by two other tracks from her debut album Space &amp; Time - Skye is the glamorous figure in various scenarios that riff upon corporatism, surveillance culture, outmoded yet classic technology and voyeurism.Whether she's surrounded by rows of CCTV cameras, or banks of TVs and DV cams, Skye is the cool, self-possessed, high-fashioned presence in a&nbsp;range of visceral textures, from vinyl to leather to silk.[imgtoken data:1]The cameras carry multiple images of the singer from the range of cameras, and also of the notable others - Timbaland, who produced her album, Lil Yachty and Bella Hadid, the latter uttering random phrases.Holmgren was influenced by the pioneering video artist Naim June Paik, with at least one explicit nod to his screen-based artworks. And this is something of a work of art in itself. A wonderfully crafted work by a director with a forceful eye.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Fenn O’Meally explores&nbsp;musical obsession in her charming promo for Texas ft. Wu-Tang Clan.&nbsp;The film features&nbsp;Kadeem Ramsay - well known for his recurring role in Top Boy, and also in Steve McQueen anthology Small Axe - as Myles, an obsessive Texas and Wu-Tang fan. After seeing their legendary joint performance at the 1998 Brit Awards, he’s spent the last 15 years collecting merch and memorabilia of the two, whilst plotting ways to bring this monumental collaboration back. The film follows Myles’&nbsp;obsession with the ultimate music collaboration and his hope that they will, one day, reunite.O’Meally&nbsp;injects humour and effortless charisma into the project, while employing a clever split narrative.&nbsp;Lensed by Molly Manning Walker, the use of authentic, docu-style shots helps build a sense of character and narrative, whilst the more experimental footage brings a jolt&nbsp;of youthful energy to the overall concept.&nbsp;The production design and art direction are top-notch, cleverly portraying a sense of celebrity obsession, without going overboard into parody territory. It's a film with a big heart, and looks like it was just as fun to make as it is to watch.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;
