Lewis Capaldi returns to action with Forget Me, and teams up with Louis Bhose to show he is up for a crazy, even mind-boggling challenge for its video -&nbsp;a shot-for-shot remake of a classic video from the early 1980s.Many viewers won't have seen the original when it first appeared - it is over forty years old, after all - but the iconic visual of WHAM!'s Club Tropicana&nbsp;is immediately recognisable in the opening frames of Bhose's video for Forget Me. Viewed through a contemporary lens, this is&nbsp;completely offbeat in the best way. Throw in Capaldi's cheeky personality and Bhose's love for whimsical ideas, and you're onto a winner.&nbsp;It's also something of a remarkable feat. And despite being a carefully structured&nbsp;remake, the video is still full of its own energy and vigour, largely down to the creative crew involved.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;"It's not exactly what I imagine most people had on their bingo cards for 'Big Lewis Capaldi Comeback Vid'," reflext Louis Bhose.&nbsp;"But hey, sometimes you gotta kill yourself precisely recreating a classic paean to hedonism for a melancholy song about second heartbreaks. It was really fun though - a week in San Antonio getting carsick and annoying our excellent local art department ('yes! that's almost it!!')."Hard to single out members of our incredible crew, but everyone went absolutely above and beyond to make the vid the best it could be. Big shouts to Lewis for being up for anything and choosing such an odd idea... And am happy to report that I got heat stroke on the shoot and live in hope that any BTS will never see the light of day."&nbsp;

I loved the idea of taking over the corporate space. A big reference was Michael Jackson’s Bad -&nbsp;we wanted this to be a choreography heavy video.[imgtoken data:2]"Shooting on 16mm with Olan Collardy, we took a lot of references from fashion editorials and wanted to capture a high fashion vintage feel. Bree’s gravity-defying hair pull moment was also a reference to the smooth criminal lean but had sexy undertones."Working with the incredible stylist Anna Trevelyan we had custom-made latex from Atsuko Kudo which played with the whole idea of Bree being the boss.”

Ben Howard returns with the first release from his fourth album and a satirical take on the mores of the English landed classes in a widescreen comedy&nbsp;with bite directed by Cloé Bailly.For What A Day Bailly plants the viewer firmly in the English countryside, with a hunting party of shotgun-toting gentry. These increasingly drunken upper class twits are prospective Elmer Fudds, on the hunt for rabbits - which are being protected elsewhere in the field by Ben Howard himself.The fun really starts when one of the party begins to turn into one of the very creatures that he and his pals intend to fill with buckshot. Mysteriously sprouting a bunny tail, prominent teeth and floppy ears becomes increasingly difficult to hide from his boozed-up pals - leading to a shootout worthy of a&nbsp;decent Spaghetti Western.<blockquote>Ben wanted to create a social satire about the vacuity of British nobility hunting parties.</blockquote>“When Ben told me he wanted a dark comedy music vid for What A Day, I was just psyched," says Cloé Bailly.&nbsp;"It's my favourite genre to explore. In his own words, it&nbsp;was a nonsense idea loosely based upon the Old English rhyme, ‘back to back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other’.[imgtoken data:1]"People loving to hunt just for the sake of killing, not out of necessity, might as well end up shooting each other and loving it too... But what if on top of this nature took revenge? What if the predator turned into the prey so in this case a hunter turned into a rabbit?!<blockquote>Cloé is a queen of dark comedy - I’m so grateful we got to work together on it.</blockquote>The video was actually shot in Bulgaria - in countryside&nbsp;that could pass for the rolling hills of the home counties.&nbsp;"Shooting in the Bulgarian mountains was intense but Ben, the crew and I were like kids," comments&nbsp;Bailly. "It's exhilarating to play with human emotions in a <a href="https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/huis_clos" target="_blank">huis-clos</a>, to imagine what people are truly capable of. And it’s always so good to see a whole crew getting on board with such a nonsense concept based on animal hysteria and group homicide. Harvey Pearson addresses a tough subject in a hugely affecting way&nbsp;for young indie-soul&nbsp;singer Puma Blue.Jacob Allen (aka Puma Blue) wrote Velvet Leaves a few years after his sister attempted suicide - when he was finally able to process&nbsp;this traumatic and tragic event. Pearson's video for the song explores the relationship between the singer and his sibling - their friendship and the impact of her mental health issues upon him - in an impressionistic fashion, with reality slipping into a dreamworld and then veering towards somewhere nightmarish.With Mia Gill playing the sibling foil to Allen's sensitive performance, Pearson uses a number of effective, lo-fi&nbsp;visual devices to express emotion and instability: the film speeding up to a blur, the vision of the girl becoming indistinct; the siblings frozen in a fiercely white spotlight, as if in grave danger.&nbsp;But perhaps most effective of all is a more realistic snapshot, after Allen witnesses his distressed sister storming out of the house.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;"This was a really special project and the first job out of lockdown," says Pearson. "Jacob (Puma Blue) came to me with this beautiful track and the touching story it told, one of family and getting through the hard times - balancing on the line of life and death. The video is a small tribute to Jacob’s sister, exploring memories and an abstract journey through mental health."&nbsp; &nbsp;

Director duo Grandmas present a bold, surreal vision for Hurts, with a striking juxtaposition&nbsp;of human emotion&nbsp;and exotic birdlife.&nbsp;Hurts frontman Theo Hutchcraft&nbsp;is a wild, overwrought presence, striding purposefully through a&nbsp;city at night, thrown into shapes and distortions by the track. The city is mostly empty, apart from the sporadic appearance of spectacular ornothology: flamingo, vulture, and stork.The birds represent the themes of toxic love and regrowth described in the passionate track Somebody: the carrion-pecking vulture embodies the idea of parasitic love; the flamingo, represents the colourful and limitless vision of what could be on the horizon; and the stork, displays the&nbsp;opportunity for a new beginning.At some points&nbsp;Hutchcraft seems to be taking on the mannerisms of the birds, in a stand-out, intense performance, as he powers through the night. And the&nbsp;cinematic feel of the piece is elevated by striking cinematography - care of DoP Nick Morris&nbsp;- and off-kilter choreography, perfectly encapsulating the painful transition from a toxic past to an optimistic future.

Bombay Bicycle Club are back, and they bring with them a cinematic comeback tale from old friend Louis Bhose.Opening with a tongue-in-cheek preamble about British society crumbling without their presence, the video is by no means as lighthearted as that opening suggests. But its certainly celebratory, and a terrific performance video for the new song Eat Sleep Wake by Bhose - who used to play with Bombay Bicycle Club back in the day, before he took up directing.&nbsp;We follow Jack through this new society as he tries to reignite his musical dreams, attempting to play a variety of different instruments but frustrated at trying to do it all himself. We are then introduced to the other band members, all following the same ritual.&nbsp;Bhose's regular DoP collaborator Murren Turrett does a great job creating a very cinematic sense of the struggle of creation. it all leads up to the moment, when&nbsp;the band make contact with one another again - via smoke signal.So then it ends, just before the four bandmembers reunite, representing the end of one era and the start of another.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Editors’ danceable riff of the Frankenstein myth is equal parts gruesome, danceable, sexy, mean-spirited and cool.In the video by Gregory Ohrel (from Greg &amp; Lio) a&nbsp;young cop has developed a taste for brutality. And bludgeoning petty criminals just isn’t doing it for him anymore. So he takes a shovel to the graveyard, and with the help of a WikiHow tutorial, he creates the perfect partner in crime. This&nbsp;is his idol,&nbsp;“Baeonse” - get it?Editors have always had an experimental impulse. The Brummie post-punk band have&nbsp;worked with Martin de Thurah, and recently sought production from cult drone band Fuck Buttons. But politely, this video-nasty could be described as a bit of an edgy pivot from the band that wrote All Sparks&nbsp;and Munich.Thankfully, in the competent hands of Ohrel, the video is provocative and not exploitative. Doctor&nbsp;Frankenstein and his monster are an absolute joy to watch - especially when they turn into an awesome&nbsp;dancing duo. Ohrel’s videos are&nbsp;reliably grand and expensive. And this one feels huge, thanks to some otherworldly post-Soviet locations and opulent photography by feature DOP Ashley Barron, and a narrative drive that just keeps going. Right to the very end.
