Hold on to your hats - Amber Grace Johnson has directed a spectacular promo for FKA twigs's collaboration with The Weekend.Pulsating with a riotous energy from the get-go, we see twigs dissolve from a 3D avatar and launch&nbsp;into&nbsp;impassioned choreography with a group of dancers, in a visceral interpretation&nbsp;of the songtitle, Tears In The Club.[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp;As the lights scintillate, the vignettes morph to&nbsp;sizzling&nbsp;setups on a dentist chair, and pole dancing in an underwater chamber, as Abel Tesfaye aka The Weeknd watches with an emotional smile. But by the end, it's twigs who has chasing down a miniature Abel, like a cat toying with a mouse.[imgtoken data:2]&nbsp;&nbsp;Shot in a breathless&nbsp;hyperreal style, this is twigs in full-on pop video mode, but retaining that sense of raw emotion that is a central hallmark&nbsp;of her body of work.&nbsp;At the same time, it could also be the sexiest&nbsp;twigs video ever - which is saying something.This is twigs's&nbsp;first music video collaboration with&nbsp;Amber Grace Johnson,&nbsp;and evidently they are a heaven-made match. It certainly confirms that this is a director making some of the most exciting and coolest&nbsp;work in pop videos right now.&nbsp;

FKA Twigs self-directs this beguiling (and unexpectedly relatable) video for Home With You, a French Exit anthem in which the singer and her friends escape London in the dead of night.When you encounter an artist as distinctive as FKA Twigs, it’s easy to overlook the variety on offer in their output&nbsp;-&nbsp;to imagine each new project as just a small piece of a singular body of work. Over the past seven years, Twigs has developed a very specific mythology, a subversive blend of humanity, warmth and discomfort - encompassed in several key motifs. In a handful of FKA Twigs videos, you can be sure that dance will feature, landscapes will distort, forms will collapse, and inevitably, water will pour.&nbsp;These videos are often so impressive, you can immerse yourself completely in their spectacle without questioning their meaning or motivation. In Andrew Thomas Huang’s video for Cellophane, Twigs climbs a golden pole, attacks a skeletal doppelgänger with her platform shoe, and tumbles into a womb-like mound of red mud. She is then covered in said mud by a pair of masked older women. Who hasn’t been there, right? The narrative is incredibly moving, but at&nbsp;a gut frequency that is difficult to describe. Twigs’ preference for instinctive self-expression pays off.The video for Home With You marks something of a departure, in that it is so direct. Without letting go of her trademark abstractions, Twigs settles on an everyday, low-stakes sensation. Specifically, the urge to get the hell out of Stoke Newington and go home. The video is a kind of triptych, following the singer from the basement of Bar-A-Bar on Kingsland, out to the suburbs in a car with her dancer entourage, and into a smothering, Midsommar-esque community in the countryside.&nbsp;The car sequence, in particular, is a standout in the artist’s oeuvre. The choreography by Twigs and Theo TJ Lowe viscerally captures the complexity of escape. All the excitement, affection and trepidation that accompanies a long journey home. This&nbsp;knotty&nbsp;dynamic between different sensations is at the heart of FKA Twigs’ work, and grounded in the reality, it finds a salient expression in this video.

Then comes the fantasy, the full-flowering of Thomas Huang&#39;s FX imagination and Twigs&#39;s transformation into something akin to a platform shoe&#39;d&nbsp;action hero.&nbsp;And that just barely describes it. Music video A-listers like&nbsp;A$AP Rocky, FKA twigs&#39; can only expect the best, and their collaboration with Fukk Sleep gets the full works from Diane Kunst. It&#39;s a gorgeous, luscious, and at times breathtaking&nbsp;visual epic.Rocky and twigs parade around a futuristic, neon-drenched dystopian city with the panache of Bonnie &amp; Clyde - one that comes from the recesses of their own subconscious as they lie, at the start of the video,&nbsp;in the hands of white-coated scientists. Each scenario looks as if its plucked from a blockbuster sci-fi movie, with Blade Runner-levels of art direction.Both artists look amazing, with brilliant styling by Matthew Josephs and Ed Marler. And if twigs&#39; seems slightly underused for the first three quarters of the video, that all changes when her vocal contribution kicks in and she exhibits gymnast levels of control with a pole-dance routine as A$AP watches (and, of course, smokes).Technically its a marvel - and particularly the photography by Daniel Fernández Abelló, and a bold and beautiful grade by Joseph Bicknell at CHEAT. FKA twigs applies her&nbsp;beguiling choreographic&nbsp;vision to her latest role as&nbsp;Nike Women&rsquo;s creative director for their Spring 2017 launch.Shot in Mexico City, Do You Believe In More? is a commercial in music video form,&nbsp;bringing together&nbsp;talented young performers in a series of statuesque&nbsp;and athletic&nbsp;modern movement sequences. And aside from the all Nike wardrobe, the branding does not impose itself on the artist&#39;s&nbsp;free expression, the severity of her&nbsp;voguing or the full realisation of Twigs&#39;s&nbsp;uniquely fierce and powerful&nbsp;aesthetic. But the collaboration&nbsp;does prove that Nike wear can&nbsp;handle&nbsp;even the toughest workouts at FKA twigs levels of intensity.&nbsp;

Boasting an appearance (and recently added vocals) by Kanye West and with all departments upping their game (notably Kabuki's make-up), the promo greatly enhances the pounding soundtrack, combining sci-fi, sex, social comment, sunglasses and human-animal genetic engineering. Nice one, Floria.
