Matthieu Livingston's video for the song also harks back to the past - and has&nbsp;two distinct parts.The video is framed&nbsp;as a mid-century period piece, with the&nbsp;main part is set in a deserted café, where V.I.C and his girlfriend are situated engaged in an uncomfortable - and possibly relationship-ending - exchange. But its intercut with flashbacks to an earlier and happier part of their romance, delivered in hazy home movie style Super 8mm.[imgtoken data:1]"With Two Sides,&nbsp;the goal was to create a compelling music video that not only showcased V.I.C as an artist and storyteller in the contemporary rap scene but also delved into both female and male perspectives on relationship issues," says&nbsp;Matthieu Livingston."To enhance the song's theme of enduring societal norms, we immersed the visuals in the 1950s, metaphorically representing the era's expectations and divisions which are transferred and still seen in nowadays relationships."Choosing simplicity over grandiosity, we filmed at Regency Cafe, aiming to convey the narrative through casual conversations to foster a personal connection with the audience. Particularly influenced by Paris, Texas,&nbsp;we shot the resonating scenes on Super 8mm. The rest was shot on 16mm to complete and enhance the aesthetic of the project."

Directing duo Deadhorses nail the&nbsp;buzzed-up energy and madness of a wild house party, with a viscerally lo-fi,&nbsp;pre-social media aesthetic, for Manchester-based house crew Mason Collective's collab with Bipolar Sunshine.Working together with Blend Films for the&nbsp;first time and filming on a collection of vintage mini-DV tape cameras - including malfunctioning ones - and then augmented with kinetic editing and FX, Deadhorses - James Topley and Ivo Beckett - have created an unhinged&nbsp;thrill ride through the unrelenting action of a brilliant night out.&nbsp;As we move breathlessly with the lead characters through scenes from street to house, taking in numerous&nbsp;loved-up participants, the nostalgic, early home-digi&nbsp;sensibility, and unstoppable momentum is a great&nbsp;accompaniment to People In Love, an&nbsp;old school dance tune with a big heart, boasting a chugging bass line, decadent synth-work and sly garage influences. Perfect for a banging&nbsp;house party video dripping in Y2K influences.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]<blockquote>We grew up watching and loving TV shows like&nbsp;Skins&nbsp;and wanted to hark back to that era...</blockquote>"We wanted to take people back in time to an old school house party session, before social media and Spotify, when MTV ruled and all you needed for a solid session was a four pack of cans, 10 B&amp;H, a brick Nokia and a well-fed Tamagotchi!" say Deadhorses."We grew up watching and loving TV shows like Skins and wanted to hark back to that era and for the film to feel rooted in the experience of the characters, based in an (undefined) recent past. We filmed the video across a number of mini-DV tape cameras - some half-broken, some with dodgy tapes - which provided the heavy analogue tone to the look and also gave us an enormous range of textures to play with.[imgtoken data:2]"Some of the cameras were so old we had abstract glitches, pixelation and our brilliant DoP Jed used these curveballs to his advantage and captured some really insane, off-the-wall shots, lit with a bright, sparky, gel-pen colour palette. We loved these in-camera effects and leaned into them when it came to the edit, enhancing them with a heavy VFX, quick cutting approach to bring a visceral rushing sense of momentum. Some of the tapes were recorded over previous footage and this contributed to the authenticity and feeling as if it was a home-movie."The film follows our hero characters throughout the night showing them all at the meet up and driving through residential roads to the house party, 6 people squashed into a four seater, etc. For the house party itself, as well as the dancing and general madness of the main room we wanted to focus on the side rooms and peripheral spaces where the shit really goes down and the memories are made. So we had one of the characters locked in the bathroom after hotboxing it and another passing out way too early and becoming tagged with a sharpie covered in crap by their mates.[imgtoken data:3]"It was also great to get Mason Collective guys in the video as well. They came down for the main party scene filling in as the DJs, playing tunes to all the revellers and bringing the energy and vibes in buckets, we to the room and the video as a whole. We really all did it for the love of the scene and it was great to have everyone on the set exchanging their nostalgic memories of raving."Overall, it was such a fun, energising experience and we think this experience we had filming it shines through the final product. Finally we’d like to thank everyone who worked on this, cast and crew, everyone at Blend, Sam and Polly at OB42, Cat at Defected. Everyone smashed it out the park and made it so much fun to make." &nbsp;

Denisha Anderson teams up with Purple Disco Machine, Duke Dumont and Nothing But Thieves for cinematic collab Something On My Mind, to create a Pulp Fiction-like narrative within an intriguing time loop structure.&nbsp;For the video, Anderson was inspired by Maya Deren's Meshes Of The Afternoon,&nbsp;and wanted to create a fantasy romance, using a time loop pattern of confusion and lust.&nbsp;With each loop, the storyline unfolds as the&nbsp;lead protagonists go on a&nbsp;whirlwind trip joyriding in a Porsche&nbsp;and robbing diners.[imgtoken data:1]It's a big and very successful leap into bigger concepts for Denisha Anderson, who navigates a hybrid narrative / performance promo with flair, cleverly interweaving the storyline with enigmatic shots of the artists - Tino Piontek aka Purple Disco Machine, and Noting But Thieves&nbsp;tied up in a basement.&nbsp;"It couldn’t have&nbsp;gone any better, despite it being the first time I had no contact with the artists prior to filming," explains Anderson."Day 1 was a remote shoot with our team filming Purple Disco Machine in Berlin. He was an absolute gent to work with whilst being tied up and placed in the back of a boot with myself and my DOP directing him via a laptop from London.&nbsp;"On Day 2 we shot Nothing but Thieves in person, and again it was such a pleasurable experience. The whole band had&nbsp;great energy and Connor (the lead singer) was up for anything and everything I threw at him.[imgtoken data:2]"For this narrative video, I got for the first time to choose professional actors which was a luxury for me.&nbsp;I needed people who were confident, comfortable and convincing for the roles I had written. I had an amazing casting director who managed to get around 130 to audition for our lead roles; it was a long day of tape watching, but to our joy we knew we had found our protagonists in Bonina and Seamus. And after our rehearsal day, I felt excited and confident that they were going to deliver and they went above and beyond."As a director you have memorable moments on set and for this one it was the end of Day 2 which was Hot Rod Diner.&nbsp;I know it sounds cheesy but I thought to myself:&nbsp;'Sh*t the bed I’m really living my dreams'.”

It’s a fan film about fans. "The chant is made up from the chorus of Call Me A Lioness, and is sung in every which kind of way. Quiet, loud, out of tune, harmonised. Cast entirely from real football fans; families, builders, queer couples, grassroot teams, lads on lime bikes, NHS nurses, uber drivers and even the local ice cream van man Ali! It was important to us to cast a true picture of the fans; everyone is behind the Lionesses this World Cup and we wanted to put a lens to that."It was an incredibly precious project, which required blind faith that people would turn up to empty pub, trust that people chanting completely out of time would sound any good, and above all making something deserving of women’s football fans. Ja Humby explores the lengths some bands will go to for success, in this rip-roaring satire on the modern day music biz&nbsp;for shame.&nbsp;The video for Fingers Of Steel reveals the 'truth' behind the group's hype... it's the work of evil&nbsp;genius front-man Charlie Steen, who has forcefully enlisted his bandmates in a click farm operation generating fake likes and comments on their own social media posts.&nbsp;Steen plays the villainous role to perfection, bare-chested and manic throughout, as self-obsessed as he is demanding, as he bullies his bandmates into submission. And their musical instruments go unplayed as they churn increasingly outlandish comments online.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]Blending narrative with glitchy animation and a 90's thriller-esque colour scheme, the video is sharp, funny and works really well with the track - remarkably it was apparently turned around in a week -&nbsp;and Steen's hip thrusting will stay in your mind long after watching...&nbsp;It also represents a triumphant reunion between the band and Ja Humby, who worked together on the faux doc and live performance film, <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2021/03/10/shame-live-flesh-molten-jets-ja-humby/69817" target="_blank">Live In The Flesh</a>&nbsp;for the director's Molten Jets project."Conceived and delivered in one week with very little sleep, the frontman was somehow more narcissistic off-camera than he is on it - humping thin air between barrages of punches," claims Humby. Gregg Houston directs a punchy performance&nbsp;promo for Wunderhorse.&nbsp;Shot in an empty office building, the video focuses solely on performance, without frills or superfluous additions - and that's what makes it so spectacular.&nbsp;Imbuing the visual with a sense of high-energy vigour, the band are completely absorbing from every angle, and the gritty textures of the 16mm film lends a rawness and intimacy to the concept.&nbsp;"These guys are earning a reputation for intense live shows and so for this music video we kept things very simple and let them do their thing," Houston says.&nbsp;"We found a pleasing location and got as much 16mm film as we could afford. What else do you need! With roughly one take per angle, the gentlemen gave it their all from the first moment. This is the director's cut so we were allowed to indulge ourselves with some 6fps footage and other flashes that took our interest."

Chrissi's marvellous takedown of an unworthy lover in Lipo gets a charming and witty treatment by Denisha Anderson.Lipo is Chrissi’s ode to body positivity, self-love and the trials of getting to the point where you believe you deserve it. And although the subject is serious&nbsp;she treats it in a smooth, laidback fashion, addressing her ex with an 'this is your problem, not mine' attitude. That makes it all the more impactful.Anderson gets the mood exactly right, by putting Chrissi in a naturalistic situation with her friends, echoing some classic R&amp;B videos along the way. Chrissi and her pals&nbsp;are enjoying each other's company, and aided by the choreography by Claudia Lois, and some fun set-ups, this is playful as it spreads it's serious message.[imgtoken data:1]“When I initially heard the song, I was gassed at the bar 'Fxck your feelings'," says Anderson.&nbsp;"I really felt that, and knew I had to create something which was full of energy yet super empowering."Drawing inspiration from Destiny’s Child’s Bootylicious and Janet Jackson’s That’s The Way Love Goes, I wanted a similar home environment, where we see Chrissi and her friends vibing and enjoying each other’s company, dissecting F-Boys, and saying goodbye to that energy and hello to an evolved version of self."Utilising a variety of set-ups and working with a choreographer for the first time, I think we pulled it all together with smiles, energy and charisma to make a film I am really proud of.”&nbsp;
