Gabrielle Torreborre directs an affecting promo for Spanish duo Coro &amp; Gully.&nbsp;The video for their delightful song Palomitas Sin Maíz was written in tribute to Coro's grandmother, who passed away in March, with both artists turning to songwriting to process the emotions together.Deeply introspective and human, the video is built from an abstract montage of performance and lingering narrative snapshots, building an atmospheric, gentle aesthetic.&nbsp;"[The video is] a joyful tribute to life and the memories that outlast it," explains Torreborre. "It was shot on 16mm, which allowed us to create a soft, reminiscent atmosphere like a tucked-away memory."This video was an opportunity to reflect, process and a reminder to be grateful for those who we still have around us and to celebrate those who have long left."

Samuel Nicholson is making&nbsp;the most of a special day, without the benefit of company, in Prasanna Sellathurai's poignant promo for Birthday Suit.The song is the title track of Nicholson's&nbsp;new album, which is about him opening himself up to a relationship whilst also coming to terms with an autism diagnosis. "The record is a dysfunctional self-portrait of my life at a time when I was falling deeply in love," he has written. "Having previously gathered that I am not easy to love, I began to write these songs as a way of warning this person about my nature, and a way of being realistic about my ability to love and support another human being at that time."[imgtoken data:1] In approaching the music video for Birthday Suit,&nbsp;Prasanna Sellathurai wanted to find strong visual references that allow the audience to clearly grasp the video as being a dysfunctional self portrait."I examined the artwork of Francis Bacon - I find his portraits to be deeply poignant and effective in creating a strong sense of shifting personality," explains the director.&nbsp;"Part of the approach in our artistic re-creations was a lot of experimental camera testing with my cinematographer, James Lahaise."The editing, done by Work Editorial's Rebecca Quinn, was also essential in finding elegant transitions and fragmenting the imagery appropriately."

Joe Wheatley directs an impressive promo for Billie Marten's just released new album Drop Cherries -&nbsp;an 18 minute live film featuring Billie and her band performing four songs from the album, brilliantly&nbsp;achieved in a single take.&nbsp;Shot in&nbsp;rural Nottinghamshire, the film has an intimate, gentle aesthetic, and makes brilliant use of the&nbsp;anachronistic house location. Dom Monks, who produced the album, was also recording engineer on the film, ensuring that the quality of the sound matches the work by Wheatley and his DoP Ben Marshall.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;Caught up in the nostalgic, breezy atmosphere, Marten's performance feels wistful yet incredibly present, exploring the different moods and themes of the album.&nbsp;

It’s beautiful because of how special love is, but scary because you become so vulnerable. By having everyone in the video static throughout until the release for the last chorus, I wanted to represent that moment of holding your breath before taking the plunge. "The focus of the video is on Yungblud and his captivating performance but we also had to craft a bespoke and intriguing world around him without taking away from that epic performance. You could watch this video several times and notice something different which adds an extra layer of fun.”

Emma J. Gilbertson explores power and control in her breatkhtaking promo for Cody Frost.A work&nbsp;of two halves, the first section of the video for DWYSSWM, is a candy-coated dance number which feels innocent and dynamic, but this soon delves into a darker, more twisted aesthetic to represent the themes of the track, with the artist bound by ropes in the fashion of the Japanese Shibari method.&nbsp;"Inspired by the lyrics of the song, we wanted to create a video about abusive and controlling relationships," Gilbertson explains. "We decided to go for a Valentine's day-themed first half to show abusive relationships can often be hidden under sweet sentiments. In the second half of the video we wanted to reveal the true nature and insidiousness of the relationship."&nbsp;Movement is the true focus of the visual, and the vessel through which the concept comes to life, alongside bold colour schemes and frenetic camera movement.&nbsp;"Joshua choreographed the movement to be controlling Cody, with a forced smile to attempt to keep up the facade," continues Gilbertson.&nbsp;"We used Shibari as an artform to show how trapped Cody's character was, as well as vibrant lighting to power the anger of the song."
