Samuel Nicholson is making the most of a special day, without the benefit of company, in Prasanna Sellathurai's poignant promo for Birthday Suit.

The song is the title track of Nicholson's new album, which is about him opening himself up to a relationship whilst also coming to terms with an autism diagnosis. "The record is a dysfunctional self-portrait of my life at a time when I was falling deeply in love," he has written. "Having previously gathered that I am not easy to love, I began to write these songs as a way of warning this person about my nature, and a way of being realistic about my ability to love and support another human being at that time."

"I examined the artwork of Francis Bacon - I find his portraits to be deeply poignant and effective in creating a strong sense of shifting personality," explains the director. "Part of the approach in our artistic re-creations was a lot of experimental camera testing with my cinematographer, James Lahaise.

"The editing, done by Work Editorial's Rebecca Quinn, was also essential in finding elegant transitions and fragmenting the imagery appropriately."
