Following his directing debut with (pls) set me on fire, Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds directs aits sequel - another&nbsp;strongly conceptual performance video - for It Hurts.From the claustrophobic locked-off shot in his previous outing, Reynolds employs another largely one-take approach, but allows the camera to roam across a large space in which a number of random dramatic vignettes are playing out - all of which have big consequences for the participants.“In typical Shikari fashion, I threw myself in at the deep end with directing, and decided to shoot two videos in one day," explains Reynolds of the making of this and the previous video. “It was an incredibly intense experience, but we had a super-talented, passionate, focused team, and were able to get a great result.“Personally, I found it rewarding to see my ideas brought to life and create a narrative connecting the two videos. I love the attention to detail that directing allowed, and the ability to bring some of the song’s themes to life in more depth.”

Enter Shikari frontman Rou Reynolds makes his video directing debut with this powerful one-take&nbsp;promo for the band's new single, (pls) set me on fire.&nbsp;The video sees the band perform&nbsp;in an effervescent setup towards the back of an industrial location, whilst a vintage TV displays retro graphics and animated lyrics from the track on screen in the foreground.&nbsp;It's a simple yet strikingly effective&nbsp;idea, that showcases the band at their best, and uses clever composition and lighting to keep eyes darting between the two positions on-screen, in a captivating ping-pong match for viewers'&nbsp;attention.[imgtoken data:1]So a lyric video for the track may not be required. But with Reynolds breaking out of the performance near the end, to write in a notebook and then wander distractedly off-screen, suggests there is still more to come. Indeed, that is confirmed by Reynolds himself."I wanted this video - my first foray into directing! - to feel minimal and uncomplicated, but at the same time full of dynamism, and therefore the polar opposite of the next video, which is a&nbsp;bewildering romp through surrealism," he says."So there’s a simplicity here, a willingness to let the raw energy of the performance be the focus, untainted by effects or complex editing. But it&nbsp;should also be mentioned that the main function of this video is really just to set up the next one…"&nbsp;

Otis Dominique and RAYE co-direct the dazzling&nbsp;promo for new track Escapism.&nbsp;Capturing the brutality of post break-up blues and the hedonistic need to escape&nbsp;the reality of being dumped, the video follows the artist as she turns to partying, drinks, drugs and any excuse to forget the heartbreak that's ripping through her.&nbsp;Using a mix of camera techniques and a blurred amalgam of effects, bright lights and a non-linear timeline, it's a bold, unabashed vision that complements the punchy track.&nbsp;[imgtoken data:1]"We worked really hard to create an honest depiction of where I was at that time in my life,” explains RAYE. “It was fun and wild. We shot it over a couple of days and wore point-of-view cameras during a wild night out at many different clubs. I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone and I ran 150 metres in 5 inch heels. We really took it there! I am really proud of it and hope everyone enjoys the visuals."Otis Dominique also says that he is very happy with the results of his collaboration with RAYE.&nbsp;"I'm so gassed to see this film come out after all the hard work put in from the whole team involved!" he says. A fun-loving fugitive is on the run in a world where joy is outlawed, in Ricky Gibb's entertaining video&nbsp;for Duvall &amp; Sam Gray's Good Feeling.In the extended intro to the video, the scene is set where&nbsp;Brady, the desperately thrill-seeking lead character, is cornered by a pair&nbsp;of plain-clothes Fun Police, finding refuge in a dreary bar that is&nbsp;sparsely populated with a handful of downtrodden characters. From there the director shows his skill with an ensemble of comedy actors, as with his recent video for <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2022/03/07/murkage-dave-us-lot-ricky-gibb/75237" target="_blank">Murkage Dave</a>, in an inventive take on the classic hostage-taking narrative."Good Feeling was such a fun track to write to," says Gibb. "On the surface the music is super sunny and feel-good, but the lyrics talk about isolation and the idea of coming to terms with oneself. It’s an interesting mix, and definitely provided a lot of food for thought for the writing process."[imgtoken data:1]&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It's a playful and often hilarious central narrative - where the Fun Police's ploy of smuggling a speaker in the pizza boy's delivery spectacularly backfires. But ultimately, this succeeds thanks to some&nbsp;impressive performances from a cast committed to&nbsp;delivering this far-fetched,&nbsp;high-concept idea.&nbsp;"I feel like we all just want to crack on with our lives in relative peace without being fucked with," continues Gibb. "So being able to explore this desire through the character of Brady was probably quite a cathartic process for me. Looking back across my work, it seems like I find a lot of joy in forcing characters (often the artist) to navigate some real compromising situations."I’ve been reflecting on why this might be, and realistically I think it’s just probably quite a comforting reminder for me to see examples of people traversing some bullshit and getting out the other side. Young T &amp; Bugsey channel their inner car salesmen in KLVDR's trippy promo for New Shape.&nbsp;Opening with a&nbsp;lo-fi throwback to 90's public access television, where amateur videographers ruled the waves, the visual soon switches into something decidely more pro and glossy - though with the same tongue-in-cheek attitude and aesthetic.Playing out as part hip-hop promo and part sketch show, the feelgood video is bang on-trend with kaleidoscopic AR shots and plenty of subtle VFX. But it's the hilarious performances that really make this promo shine.&nbsp;

JGrrey explores a world of infinite possibilities&nbsp;in Dreaming Fool, directed by Harry Cauty.&nbsp;Set against an infinite black background, the video cleverly transitions from setup to setup, exploring scenes where JGrrey gets tattooed, lights a spliff and even gets watered like a plant. Like any good dream, it's equal parts surreal and idyllic.&nbsp;Shot in a refreshingly natural/ hand-held style, the absence of a gimbal adds a rough and ready quality to the visual, which is a nice juxtaposition to the buttery-smooth track. Each vignette has a distinct style to it, effortlessly moving from weird fashion to offbeat, almost comedic elements, and right back around again for another lap. It's frenetic and inventive, however there is a certain beauty to the project, allowing for poignant and emotional beats in between the quickfire action.&nbsp;JGrrey has a rare, hypnotic style to&nbsp;her performance, and has the ability to make you feel at home in an unfamiliar world. This is the glue to the whole concept- JGrrey will lead you into her universe and show you a good time, leaving you ready for more by the end of the track. And we certainly can't wait to see what's next.&nbsp;
