Ian Robertson returns with his first music video in ages - in fact, his first made in the UK in eight years&nbsp;-&nbsp;for electronic music duo Honne and their&nbsp;new track What Would You Do?The concept explores a suburban love story between two young characters, played brilliantly by&nbsp;Daniel Ooko and&nbsp;Rebecca Louise.&nbsp;Egged on by a vision of featured artist&nbsp;Pink Sweat$ - reflected in a puddle -&nbsp;Ooko gains the courage to approach his neighbour, impressing her with his slick yet understated dance moves. They take a drive through the town - well, at least they would do, if he could get the car in gear.[imgtoken data:1]And they almost make out, until a guitar-wielding leather jacket-clad bully persuades Louise to leave with him, ending in a climactic face off - all while Honne's James and Andy cameo as neighbourhood workers, quietly observing proceedings."Honne came to me with an idea about a young boy that takes revenge on his bullies," reveals Robertson.&nbsp;"I thought the lyrics were screaming out for a love story, so I took the elements of Honne's idea and rejigged it into a weird offbeat love triangle!"&nbsp;It's absurd fun, in the same vein as Robertson's lighthearted work for giant dance hits like <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2013/02/28/duke-dumont-ft-ame-need-u-100-ian-robertson/17112" target="_blank">Duke Dumont's Need U (100%)</a>&nbsp;a few years ago. An unconventional yet charming concept that perfectly fits the track.&nbsp;

Warning: explosive, grisly violence lies ahead in Ian Robertson’s video for Die Atzen. Which you will enjoy very much.It’s a beautiful day in suburbia… until the electro hip-hop duo Die Atzen crank up the bass far too high. Opening with portraits of happy characters smiling to camera, there is also a sense of unease from the get-go. A garage door rolls up, and the duo are performing behind a turntable and two massive speakers.This catches the attention of a neighbour, who is trying to wash his car in peace. Slowly walking over, trying not to look confrontational, the neighbour awkwardly tries to catch the pair’s attention. They just both put in ear protectors, right before the bass drop...Which blows the head off the neighbur clean off. That's just the start of a relentless use of this well-used technique of cartoon violence, to a level of tasteless excess. Nice ladies, children, dogs... no-one is safe from the Die Atzern's bass drop at the mention of the song title = Ballern.Shot near Bucharest, the filming took place over one day and cost the lives of twenty watermelons and one pink grapefruit (for the dog's head). The special effects borders the line between realistic and silly, but it’s a choice that works perfectly for this project.&nbsp;The colour palette is full of bright pastels, and the styling by Suzan Suliman adds a comedic edge, perfectly juxtaposing the savage exploding heads.The introduction of the police towards the end of the video ensures that the concept isn’t a one-trick pony, and you’ll finish watching with an insatiable urge to click the replay button.

Not long into Ian Robertson&#39;s video for&nbsp;Oliver $ &amp; Jimi Jules&#39; house anthem Pushing On, it&#39;s pretty clear that it&#39;s not going to end well for the guy who&#39;s dancing...A pregnant women on a dusty desert track is replaced by a baby, who becomes a little&nbsp;boy dancing, who&nbsp;becomes a bigger boy dancing in the same spot wearing the same red and white singlet, who then becomes a young man... It&#39;s simple, straightforward and touchingly illustrates we&#39;re all heading in the same direction. So we might as well get up and dance.

Dizzee and his pals are gathering on the streets of London, all hooded-up, and the message is clear from the BBM message he sends at the start: RIOT!But not quite like the one from a couple of&nbsp;years ago. Dizzee has got together with Ian Robertson to make his video for Love This Town (featuring Teddy Sky) to toy&nbsp;with viewer expectations, and produce a comic riff on the 2011 which manages to be&nbsp;wacky, warmhearted and,&nbsp;most importantly,&nbsp;very funny.Just when you think that this group of masked marauders must be about to cause mayhem in London&#39;s mean&nbsp;streets, they commit another outrageous act of boy scout-style neighbourliness.&nbsp;Dizzee may be the only UK artist at the moment with&nbsp;the charm, credibility and arguably the wit to pull this off. He&#39;s found a perfect collaborator in Ian Robertson, who showed what he could do with comedic narratives for Duke Dumont and Skream, and once again gets maximum comedy value from various set-pieces. Particularly good is a feelgood replay of the mugged Asian student incident from 2011. LOL.&nbsp;

A man has a portable cassette player growing inside of him which is constantly playing Duke Dumont&#39;s Need U (100%) in Ian Robertson&#39;s brilliant video for the UK DJ/Producer.Everywhere the man goes, as the track plays, people around him break out into a dance - his fellow shopper at the local store, his girlfriend, the postman, the waitress at the diner, the fat guy at the bus stop...In what is a simple but brilliant idea (with a great finale), Ian explains the ideas behind his treatment:Can you talk us through the brief you got from the label and how you responded to that in your treatment &quot;The label wanted an upbeat narrative promo, but the brief was pretty open. The idea was inspired by the humming vocal in the track; it sounds like it&#39;s coming from inside someone and the catchy beat just makes you want to move. So I thought it would be fun if a woman was pregnant with a stereo and she was hassled by people dancing to the tune from her womb.&quot;The idea of giving birth to a stereo seemed to freak people out too much so I decided to make it about a guy with stereo lodged in his belly. You don&#39;t often see a surgery scene in a dance video so that seemed like a fun thing to try!&quot;What was it that drew you to the aesthetic you chose for the spot &quot;The label wanted the promo to have a summery feel so they suggested shooting in Los Angeles. This created a wonderfully vibrant colour pallet. Duke Dumont said the track was inspired by 80s and 90s house music, so we brought a hint of nostalgia into the styling; for instance the tape deck and costumes hark back to the good old days!&quot;Which was your favourite scene to work on Why &quot;I loved throwing our lead actor, Rique, into more and more uncomfortable situations and just filming his pitch-perfect downbeat reactions. I particularly enjoyed watching him squirm around the backflipping guys on the street corner, as well as our bus stop man and head-bobbing supermarket worker.&quot;All our dancers brought different personality to their role, making each scenario so distinctive. There were just too many to fun moments to name! I spent most of the shoot laughing behind the monitor&quot;.What was the most challenging part of the production &quot;Production went very smoothly seeing as we had only a few days to prep. I did find the hospital scenes quite challenging; it had some more complex blocking with heavy art direction and never enough time! Ian Robertson&#39;s brilliant stop-motion epic for Delta Heavy&#39;s Get By is a viral sensation, notching over two million views on YouTube in just over a week and it deserves every one of those - and the many more it will surely get.Ian creates soundwave animations of the track from various well-known (and less well-known) toys including Connect4 and Subbutteo, but that&#39;s just the start.
