Dan from Bastille battles the outside world in Another Place, directed by&nbsp;Anna Radchenko &amp; Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux.&nbsp;In an avant-garde bedroom set, Dan is sat with sand pouring from his hands, lonely and isolated. The huge windows behind him offer a glimpse into the outside world, but he isn't interested. Alessia appears outside, like&nbsp;a giant looking through a dollhouse, and taps the glass. This sends a shockwave through the environment, which starts to deteriorate and spill black blood from its walls. Dan is thrown into action, trying to keep a sense of calm whilst the outside world is trying to break him out of his bubble.&nbsp;Unique and inspired, the German Expressionist references and design elevate the concept, and Dan's&nbsp;performance as a man losing his sanctuary is breathtaking.Great work across the board on the video shot in Toronto, with the heavily pregnant Radchenko directing remotely&nbsp;from London, and&nbsp;Schaulin-Rioux on set.&nbsp;

Dream-team Bree Runway and Fred Rowson continue their ambitious collaboration with this second, pointed foray into the world of 'Crackney'.Runway has never suffered fools gladly. Her short visual canon is reliably barbed and political. We first encountered her in <a href="https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2017/09/26/bree-runway-what-do-i-tell-my-friends-fred-rowson/49791">What Do I Tell My Friends</a>, in which the singer murdered an abusive fashion photographer and desecrated his corpse. This, her first collaboration with Rowson, was a caustic piece of wit in 2017 that anticipated the #MeToo campaign.Two years later, for Runway’s latest project, the two have developed the cartoonish, satirical world of Crackney. Their magical realist conception of London is a springboard for criticisms of culture and the city, in which dark skin-tones are a profitable commodity and Runway doppelgängers run amock.Big Racks takes aim at rigged capitalism and white gatekeepers of industry. Gentrifiers, procedural bureaucrats and trendy columnists who feel entitled to a piece of Runway (“I must touch your hair!”) This episode hones in on a beauty tycoon character we met in <a href="http://https://www.promonews.tv/videos/2019/05/29/bree-runway-2on-fred-rowson/58936">20N</a>. This time, the businesswoman is&nbsp;trying to secure a patent on her home brewed ‘Be Runway Body Spray’. Leading with the headline,<a href="https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/dec/02/revealed-the-stark-evidence-of-everyday-racial-bias-in-britain"> “57% of ethnic minorities feel they have to work harder to succeed in a British workplace”</a>, the video skewers&nbsp;the myth that hard work is the only factor at play in personal success. Even with a fistful of cash, she can only secure a deal with a literal paper bag over her head.The video benifits from some hyperactive, mixed-format photography by Stefan Yap. And a fresh, comic&nbsp;book colour palatte, for which we can thank stylist&nbsp;Holly Adamthwaite and colourist&nbsp;Edwin Metternich. Spiky politcal satire rarely looks so fun.

Davis Silis brings Nick Mulvey and his band together with a big bunch of dancers in&nbsp;a&nbsp;joyful jam for Mountains To Move.With choreography by Jonny Vieco, Silis turns his dancers into a happy gang who counterpoint the conventional band set-up of Mulvey and company with their apparent freestyle movement. The bright and breezy atmosphere is aided by the setting, the grounds of an old cigarette factory&nbsp;in High Wycombe.&quot;Crazy place, that&#39;s sort of been taken over by skaters,&quot; says Silis, who adds that although the principle of the dancers&#39; movement were all rehearsed, new details were added in every take to add a layer of unpredictability&nbsp;- which posed a challenge to editor Owen O&#39;Sullivan.&quot;Almost all the choreography was different in each take, so no two shots were ever the same.&nbsp;There were a few simple principles for how the movement needed to work, but once the camera started rolling, one dancer would lead and the others followed (for the sync stuff), which then just unfolded into the free-for-all toward the end. So the fact that Owen could make it link together that fluidity was all down to him!&quot;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Floating women, crucifixes and brutalism - there&#39;s a rich tapestry of imagery in Pedro Martin-Calero&#39;s newest clip for The Weeknd.Martin-Calero&#39;s awesome minimalist visual sees The Weeknd and another man vie for the affections of the same woman as they all make their way through a huge, beautiful maze-like building. With deep blood-red decor cutting through the space, a series of silent observers, distorted mirrors and geometric shapes the clip has an almost Kubrickian sense of dread to it. No wonder some excitable commenters are seeing this as some kind of evidence&nbsp;of The Weeknd&#39;s affiliation with &#39;The Illuminati&#39;.

Imelda May joins everyday superwomen on a march through Brixton Market in London in this rousing one-shot video directed by Laura Scrivano - her second video for the artist &ndash; for Should&#39;ve Been You.Imelda has explained that she was inspired by the recent Women&rsquo;s March in reaction to Donald Trump becoming&nbsp;US President.&nbsp;&ldquo;I wanted to ask the question &lsquo;who takes care of us?&#39; We are 50% of the world and it&rsquo;s the people in power&rsquo;s responsibility to take care of women as well,&quot; she says.She has also shed her old rockabilly style for a more down-to-earth look while keeping a slightly retro pop sound, and she really makes it work for her here - and she is well supported by a well-cast range&nbsp;of hardworking London&nbsp;women. Scrivano, in her second video for the artist, has done a great job, making something essentially political but also entertaining.&nbsp;Inspirational stuff for a very hummable song.&nbsp; &nbsp;

Blink MD James Studholme&#39;s sideline as leader of shambly&nbsp;folk-bluegrass outfit Police Dog Hogan has led to notable videos by Blink and Colonel Blimp directors - but surely none better than this one by Fred Rowson.As Rowson explains below, the band&#39;s song Tyburn Jig provided the ideal opportunity to realise a long-cherished idea, to create a Victorian-era Rogues Gallery like no other. What marks it out is the wit and invention that&#39;s gone into fleshing out the idea, and its brilliant delivery, involving great work in various&nbsp;departments - including wardrobe, art direction, make-up and photography.The characters set before the police photographer&#39;s massive 19th century camera are an outlandish, exotic yet hapless bunch - they make Tom Hardy&#39;s band of reprobates in&nbsp;Taboo&nbsp;look slightly boring &ndash; all sentenced to hang,&nbsp;for committing pathetically trivial misdemeanours: stealing a wheel of cheese, egg smashing, pretending to have divine powers...&nbsp;&nbsp;These unfortunates&nbsp;look amazing thanks to costume design by Grace Snell, art direction by Zoe Klinck and prosthetics and makeup by Emma Croft, who transformed Studholme and other band members into the unlikeliest characters. And then there&#39;s the fact it looks rather like it was shot in Victorian times: that&#39;s down&nbsp;to the skills of DoP Stefan Yap and colourist Edwin Metternich at Framestore. Wonderful work all round - the sort of thing that makes you proud to be British.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Davis Silis, take a bow. This perfectly choreographed fight sequence with a twist manages to accomplish a hell of a lot in a confined space.An empty carriage on a Victoria Line underground, two men in the throes of a brawl that could have been lifted straight from any action/thriller. Silis knows this and uses it to play with the form of the trope, and how it contrasts with the themes of the song. Asking the question &quot;why do we hurt the ones we love?&quot; without providing a clear-cut answer, the video takes some unexpected twists and turns without ever leaving the carriage.The video is made even more impressive when you know that one of the fighters (Formation&#39;s Will Riston) actually dislocated his arm very early in the shoot, and still pulled out a pretty fantastic performance.
