What is not old-school&nbsp;is how this story of hope is delivered in a gritty, hard-hitting fashion: after witnessing her father's arrest, a young woman turns to drugs, overdoses and almost dies. Her slow but determined recovery leads her to the boxing ring, and a reunion with her father.The video is Quoilin's first since joining Good Company in the US, and becoming represented for commercials by FAMILIA and Lock It In for promos in the UK.

Alexandre Moors directs this taboo-busting performance video.A tribute to various women, the progressive video features cameos from activists and role models including her mother Tish Cyrus, along with trans models Casil MacArthur&nbsp;and Aaron Philip, and&nbsp;dancer Amazon Ashley. The progressive performance video features various taboos: images of breastfeeding, menstruation pads, scars, and a slogan that reads: "virginity is a social construct”.&nbsp;It benefits from some lush photography from DOP Natasha Braier (of The Neon Demon) and a lively grade by Ron Sudul.<blockquote>Music videos are the great barometer of popular culture in the 21st century. And if you ever needed evidence, you’d need look no further than Miley Cyrus’ visual canon.</blockquote>In 2017, Cyrus briefly returned to a more country&nbsp;influenced sound, and restrained visual presence to match. It was variously described with all the well intended clichés you might expect: the singer was making “clean”, “honest” music and “leaning into her roots”. But this latest video proves that Cyrus has always been more comfortable as a provocateur.Music videos are the great barometer of popular culture in the 21st century. And if you ever needed evidence, you’d need look no further than Miley Cyrus’ visual canon. Compare the warm reception of Mother’s Daughter to the well-publicised moral outrage that greeted her reinvention in 2013. <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2013/sep/10/miley-cyrus-wrecking-ball">"Miley Cyrus's new Wrecking Ball video says young women should be sexually available”</a>, read a typically hysterical headline -&nbsp;in The Guardian, no less.There were some genuine criticisms of Bangerz era. In fact, her performance at the MTV VMAs was arguably the agent that propelled conversations about cultural appropriation into the mainstream. But the majority of the criticism levelled at Cyrus was from a public that simply weren’t ready for a female star expressing her sexuality so candidly. This video is equally provocative, at least to a mainstream audience. But when the worst Fox News can say is that the video&nbsp;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/miley-cyrus-mothers-daughter-music-video-mixed-reviews">“draws mixed reactions”</a>, it makes you think. And when The Daily Mail calls it&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-7205221/Miley-Cyrus-snuggles-mom-Tish-beautifully-diverse-Mothers-Daughter-video.html">“beautifully diverse”</a>, it occurs to you quite how dramatically culture has changed in a short six years.

The second NERD video &ndash; or &#39;Tutorial&#39;&nbsp;&ndash; directed by Scott Cudmore and Todd Tourso. Like the first it centres on phenomenal dancer Mette Towley, but the video for 1000 is more controversial, diving headlong into the polarised politics of the United States.&nbsp;Clearly influenced by the work of Arthur Jafa - the great Jay-Z 4:44 video, for example - and Beyoncé&#39;s Formation, it starts with clips of news footage - clashes between white nationalists and left-leaning protesters - in a seemingly&nbsp;unmediated way.&nbsp;There follows&nbsp;a break in the track to include a monologue by Mike Tyson at his boxing peak.Thought-provoking stuff, although it may not be entirely clear what message we&#39;re supposed to take from this Tutorial. &nbsp; &nbsp;

And it&#39;s photographed&nbsp;by&nbsp;Malik Sayeed, and choreographed by&nbsp;JaQuel Knight, both veterans of Beyoncé&#39;s Formation video.&nbsp;

Shot in the desert outside LA, the Godard-infuenced video sees McCoy stuck in a traffic jam in the desert, and finding that everyone is making the most of it, apart from him - and then going round all over again...

Aoife McArdle&rsquo;s very cool video for Jon Hopkins&rsquo; Open Eye Signal is a road movie with a difference; it charts the journey of a lone skateboarder through the awesome landscapes of the American West to the soundtrack of Hopkins&rsquo;s epic track.What appears to be the start of a narrative as the skateboarder, played by Chris Chann, with face beaten up, jumps onto his board and heads off, turns out to be simply about the journey itself, introduced with a minute-long opening shot &ndash; increasingly existential, occasionally surreal. As the skater passes through suburbia, desert and coastline, it becomes all about the absorbing visual enjoyment of the journey &ndash; and the Zen-like demeanour of the skater, like an earthbound Silver Surfer.This highly cinematic visual accompaniment to the hypnotic pulse of Open Eye Signal was achieved with superb photography by Steve Annis, and assured direction by Aoife McArdle, who quietly keeps turning out marvellous videos&hellip;
