Cloé Bailly's&nbsp;lovely video for Coldplay's Champion Of The World explores the imagination of a lonely, misunderstood boy - played by Chris Martin - who finds shelter from the pain of the everyday world in his own dreams.&nbsp;He gets bullied at school, and then he gets bullied at home - the nice heart-rending touch is having the 'real' boy, who Chris Martin is playing, is periodically seen too, but always from behind. With every situation, there is a&nbsp;journey from the reality to his world of the imagination: making his tormentors at school disappear, cars taking flight in his suburban neighbourhood so he can cycle in the middle of the road, and eventually seeing&nbsp;his musicmaking dreams lead him to his fellow bandmembers on TV.Bailly's&nbsp;visually expressive and cinematic world&nbsp;is bright, whimsical, and enchanting - a cross between Spielberg's vision of surburbia in&nbsp;ET, and Gondry's music videos, and his movie&nbsp;Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.“It’s about this magic power kids have to switch off from reality and jump into their own world, especially when having to cope with pain," says Bailly. Coldplay perform the first half of their new ablum Everyday Life on a hillside in Amman, Jordan,&nbsp;at sunrise. Directed by Paul Dugdale, this was streamed live-to-air on YouTube on the morning of November 21st.And then... Dugdale filmed the band performing the second half of the album at <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wysCoAm2Yo&amp;feature=emb_rel_pause" target="_blank">sunset on the same day</a>.Shot with the band, and additional musicians, performing in the round, Dugdale gets to the heart of Coldplay as a performing outfit and at the same time opens up the whole of their new album to their adoring fanbase. Coldplay invite viewers to experience their unique behind the scenes process in Orphans, directed by Mat Whitecross.&nbsp;As the video starts, a series of words in a traditional printing press font jump onto screen. "And then you can do a boom ka. Like boom boom ka".&nbsp;A child's voice narrates the words as Chris Martin&nbsp;suggests a new drum beat, in a raw and candid voice clip. We are then immediately thrust into a low-res black and white shot of Martin performing on a stage, barely visible amongst the grit and grain of the camera.&nbsp;As the visual continues, we see Martin play&nbsp;the guitar outside a train station, and then perform in an outdoor setting with the band, as overlays of emails from across the production process flash onto screen. This unique mix of BTS material and lo-fi performance is a world away from the big budget spectacles Coldplay are known for - but this could be their most intimate and exciting video yet.&nbsp;The latter half of Orphans is more concept-based, as the band perform in a derelict room with subtle art direction and a group of enthusiastic fans. A scattering of VFX overlays, including flowers, birds and animated words add a colourful jolt of energy to proceedings, right up to a climactic end scene.&nbsp;Jumping off the walls and sliding across the ceiling, this surreal ending is a testament to a band and director who aren't afraid to throw away the rulebook and delve into the avant-garde. Exciting and unexpected, Coldplay fans far and wide are going to love this.&nbsp;

For Colplay's Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall from their yet untitled fifth album, Mat Whitecross' third promo for the band is this exciting stop motion, graffiti-splattering gem. 
Mat explains that this was a production that grew out of a fairly simple idea - but then became a lot more complicated: 
"A few weeks ago, the band were doing a photo shoot over at Millennium Mills with Bristol-based graffiti artist Paris, and our photographer mate Sarah Lee. They asked if I'd mind dropping by with a film camera so we could mess around in between set ups.
"Looking at the beautiful artwork Paris and the band were creating on the walls, Chris thought maybe we should just shoot the video for the new single there and then, with him walking through the building and the camera whipping between band and graffiti.
"Never having done it before, I stupidly suggested we come back another day and animate the graffiti using stop motion - so me and Paris shot some test footage that night with a stills camera to show the band how it might look. They were into it straight away, but it wasn't till they gave the go ahead for the video that we realised quite how much work it would involve.
"As usual, what was supposed to be a really simple idea escalated and escalated - and we ended up putting band, crew and artists through hell and back - as well as gallons of paint - to hit the post-Glastonbury deadline, but it was more than worth it. I now have nothing but respect and admiration for animators worldwide - and absolutely no idea how they find the patience and stamina to put together features this way".

Mat Whitecross has spent a lot of time working with Coldplay over the past year or so, from making the <a href="http://www.promonews.tv/2008/06/05/coldplay%e2%80%99s-%e2%80%98dancing-politicians%e2%80%99-viral-by-mat-whitecross/">dancing politicians</a> viral for Violet Hill, to live stuff. And he&#39;s certainly not done yet. In fact, he is now preparing to shoot a documentary about the band as they spend &#39;09 plugging away at touring the current album and making the next one.Mat also directed the video for Lovers In Japan - also featuring the band in fairly hyperactive mode. It has them playing in a variety of settings and backgrounds - and there&#39;s a fair bit of &#39;light-writing&#39; too.Meanwhile their brand new video directed by Dougal Wilson, for Life In Technicolour II, premieres on Channel 4 tomorrow night.
