Ozzie Pullin directs an entrancing promo for DJ/producer Tourist, taking us into the world of an amateur Artistic Swimming Team. The video for Valentine presents an expression of love and freedom, through the movement of this team of young women, engaged in what has latterly been described as synchronised swimming - and has been a favourite theme of filmmakers since the early days of Hollywood. In this case, Ozzie Pullin adds another dimension to the subject - an element of documentary and an almost poignant tone, that works with the track. So as well some spectacular water work and great cinematography by DoP Spike Morris - both above and under the water - the inclusion of individual portraits of the swimmers gives additional depth and meaning to their work and performance as a team. Cinematic and utterly captivating, Ozzie Pullin has created a marvellous visual accompaniment to Tourist's uplifing track.

Director James Alexandrou's first video in seven years is an extraordinary one-shot anxiety trip for new artist Truman.The video for Charley Boy is his second as a solo director (after previously being part of the duo SCRATCH) and has just been nominated for Best Performance In A Video at the UKMVAs. And you can see why. The artist achieves the unusual feat of being half-drowned for most of the video, by a violent antagonist (played by Cavan Clerkin) who just can't seem to finish the job. Keeping up a lip-sync in a one-take is enough of a task when you're not underwater for most of it, and Alexandrou's concept really heightens the tense atmosphere. Ending with an unexpected resolution, it's safe to say that Alexandrou's return to the format - and Truman's debut - is bloody brilliant.

The Sacred Egg - London-based directing duo Alex Mavor and Ed Kaye - direct a mesmerising, and thought-provoking promo for Depeche Mode. In this incisive, metaphorical short story, couple try to work their way through a communication breakdown in a world where talking in the normal fashion is evidently impossible - and can only be achieved underwater.It's a concept that bounces beautifully off the theme of the track Wagging Tongue, brought to life in a dramatic, and highly cinematic fashion, with gorgeous black and white cinematography by legendary DoP Simon Chaudoir, and consummmate performances from the lead actors, assisted by the use of visual effects in the underwater scenes that add a supernatural, otherworldly angle. Echoing the style of the band's longtime collaborator and creative director Anton Corbijn, the monochromatic colour palette adds to the raw aesthetic, and helps tie the concept to Depeche Mode's considerable videography to date.

Ed Sheeran is at one with the elements, in Mia Barne's touching promo for Boat. We see Sheeran performing in the middle of the sea, battling a tirade of incoming waves as he works to keep his footing.Before long, various objects get caught up in the water, including broken records, teddy bears and stationery. The cinematography is surprisingly intimate and conversational throughout - with Sheeran's eyeline always down the lens and the camera up close and personal, it feels as if he is pouring his heart out to a friend, and it makes for a beautiful visual. It's the perfect track for a stripped back yet perfectly executed promo, and Barnes brings it to life with an emotional yet still playful concept.
