Nerve, Songer, & D Double E head for a workout in Bailey Tom Bailey's sweaty, funny promo for Tonkz. Opening with a definition of the word 'Tonk' (in this context, to have big, well developed muscles), the video takes place in a small gym, where each artist has their own time to shine. With Nerve and Songer working out, D Double E does the rounds as a pestering personal trainer - and acts as a narrator of sorts, leading viewers around the space, as the other artists weave in and out of the performance.With a simple brief for a video in a bodybuilding gym, director Bailey felt the macho set brimming with comedy potential to complement the in-your-face, humorous track. To push the concept to its most absurd for the finale, Bailey recalled videos of powerlifters who, at the peak of their extension, end up vomiting into the crowd, imagining D Double E pushing a client too far and hastening that messy conclusion. FIlmed at the independent TNT Gym in Songer’s hometown of Reading - which had just undergone a new all-red paint job - Bailey Tom Bailey has provided a comedic vision which perfectly aligns the upbeat track, and the colour scheme of the location. “I’ve found comedy to be a mode that can contain my diverse ideas," he says. "I want to create things that are fun, surreal with a subversive or transgressive edge. Aesthetically, I try to create a world and visual language for each project, which I find naturally evolves from the idea."Often my work achieves colour cohesion through removing colour. So I was keen [with Tonkz] to create a look both dramatic and high contrast while still remaining colourful. The colour scheme was dominated by reds in the location already so it was natural to reflect this in the wardrobe.”

Ben Cole directs a high octane dance performance by singer chi, in a South London gym.The video for Serotonin is a darkly atmospheric showcase for the new artist, with high contrast lighting and playful camerawork. Packed full of high-energy confidence, the video is a great match for the pulsating earworm of a beat. "The video was shot with a window of four hours to capture everything between classes [in the gym]," Cole explains."Malik, the movement director, worked alongside chi ahead of the shoot to perfect the choreography. These rehearsals combined with chi’s insane performance and stamina are what made the timing doable."DoP Sam Hooper’s fluid shooting style helped with the limitations and fast nature of the shoot. Other than the intro, Sam used only natural light. It was all these details that meant the music video was possible."

Ish Sahotay's video for FineArt brings the club to spin class for their 2-step banger Don’t Wanna Rush. It's essentially a modern reworking of the famous/infamous Eric Prydz video for Call On Me, with an all-girl class of professional dancers.Very sadly, Ish Sahotay's life was cut short soon after shooting this video. The 26 year old had directed several low budget videos, and was just starting to make a serious impact as a director, particularly with his Little Boots video for Taste It - now shortlisted for Best Dance Video - Budget category at the UK Music Video Awards next month - when he passed away in June.To celebrate his life, his friend Jake Bulstrode-White created a Go Fund Me campaign to put on an Exhibition of all his work, which took place on the 17th July at the Apiary Studios. On the page, Bulstrode-White said this of his friend: "Ish Sahotay was a 26 year old up and coming Director/Photographer. After 4 years of working his way up through the industry his career had finally started to flourish, there seemed to be no end to his success."Tragically on the 16th June 2015 Ish went to bed and didn't wake up. He was full of so much talent and ideas, anyone that had the honour of meeting him will know how much of a loss to the world his passing was."
